There are many different versions of clocks and even the quick ones work (to an extent). A 3 clock is too slow if you want like a machine gun type of deal.

A 1 clock doesn't last long, I know that. And all clocks seem to fail eventually, except slower ones that are just needed for shift registers to make branching more efficient. Even the 3-tick repeater clock I had would get "stuck" every once in awhile, til I threw an inverter into the the loop. And it wasn't even doing anything complex, it just makes the torches I put on my chests flash to make my friends trip out.
I haven't tried exactly what you posted there but I have used a clock before and it didn't work. Anyway, I'll be on Live later.
I also do not have any sticky pistons on my redstone world, I will try that out when I get the chance.
You could make the same design without a sticky, just use a sand block in front of the redstone repeater and have the regular piston push it up when activated. When the pressure plate is not on, the piston would retract and the sand would fall back down creating the same effect without a sticky piston involved.
But you should really get sticky pistons ASAP. Most of the more complicated designs use those, and there isn't always a way around that as there was in this specific instance.

Mine never "burnt out" it was a repeater clock. And repeaters are buggy as all hell in XBLA version, even worse than the rest of the redstone items. Every once in awhile my clock would get "stuck" and you could see a repeater lit up, but the current wouldn't loop. It's as if the power is actually trapped inside the repeater.
Just tried it, the clock does not work. It activates allthe repeaters at once and only activates the dispenser once.
I got the clock to work once at two ticks but it doesn't work consistantly or anthing...
By the way I place a torch down to activate it.
How fast is the clock? If it's fast, start it with a monostable circuit, or just be quick on the triggers. I aim directly in the middle of a block and just hit the right trigger just barely after the left. Not so fast you're almost hitting them at the same time, then the line won't even pick up the signal.

Okay, so working on a clock that wouldn't burn out and still shoot arrows quickly, I chose this layout. Once again, it's not compact, but I want to make sure you approve of it's use first.
It was also designed with the intention that you wanted the arrows to shoot fairly quickly. (Anything completely full fire burned out I noticed, so I had to make it slightly slower)
Notice the Redstone torch next to the dispenser. The dispenser MUST be fully powered from a different source other than the clock (just place a torch or lever next to it to power). This is very important to this design (as it won't work without it) and ensures that dispenser shoots quickly.
The repeaters you may adjust to change how quickly the arrows will shoot. It's not directly proportional nor do they shoot completely steady (except on maybe 2 or 3 different settings) but it does shoot quickly and rapidly nonetheless.
I stood on the pressure plate for a full 5 minutes, and the clock did not burn out. I did not design an "Off/On" switch yet because I want to make sure it works for you, so it will most likely burn out when you reload the world. But I'd be happy to make some adjustments if it works for you.

Did you test out my one, its a simple small clock plus the added pulse from the pressure plate so 2 sources of power going to the dispenser.
I tried yours, did not work. It activates once and the repeater hitting the dispenser fails to power it again. The pressure plate keeps the power active.Okay I fixed your design. Might be because we are on Xbox and it looks like your one PC, but something must be changed.
Your design is MUCH better than mine, I give you that. I'll post the picture of the changes in just a moment.

The problem was leaving the Redstone torch to activate the clock for more then a single tick will break it. Removing it within a tick will make it work perfect.

Yeah I see you figured out your clock issue. Isnt the clock I had in my picture more stable and compact though, i guess if it aint broke dont fix it
I actually had the same issue (pressure plate to keep dispenser firing). Mine doesn't fire very fast, but it has a very compact design to it. I'll outline it here, but if you can't understand the following design (can't take a picture), then add me on xbox live (Septic_Tank53) and i'll show you mine in-game as well as how fast it fires.

I know the clock works cause I have the same one in my world on xbox
This is how it must look.
Just like in Fayzed picture, the top left most repeater must be set to 2. (1 will burn it out, 3 and 4 will make it shoot slower if you want)
My original design shoots quite a bit faster, but this design is much more compact. Up to you OP, but his contraption is less space.
