Yes, my friends built a launching system that uses TNT to access an area up in the clouds.
I'll try to describe it in words. Hope I get this right.
Place blocks in a 7x7 square on flat ground.
Fill the 5x5 interior with water buckets until it is all still water.
Place 5x5 TNT around the outer edge, adjacent to the blocks placed previously. Leave the water in the middle.
On the center square, place a stone half slab on top of the water. Place a block, put the half slab on top, then remove the initial block.
Line the top of the 7x7 outer blocks with redstone dust. Make a complete circle.
Add a button outside the 7x7 ring where you can reach it. Attach the button to the redstone you placed.
Get on the half slab. Press the button to ignite the TNT. Before it explode, begin jumping up and down.
When the TNT goes off, you will be launched upward and slightly backwards (just experiment). We made an opening into the village, and using signs and water we made a doorway that the TNT will launch you thru.
It took some effort but we did get it working pretty well, got the launcher lined up with the entrance.
Not the safest way to travel... but it's pretty fun and people were amazed at it.
Oh, and by the way, this TNT launcher would occasionally freeze my xbox when we tried it. So user beware.
Just one, but it takes ten episodes.
