the specific mods cant be added, because mojang/4j dont own the rights to the mods i have said this many times and am getting tired of saying it so no most likely none of the mods from the pc wont be added
The authors have no rights unless they have taken the steps to protect their work under the following laws below. I know Microsoft, Mojang and 4J have done this you can find the all the documents listed under the FIFO that is the Freedom of Information Act. They don't want this hidden because they want their work protected. They have the money to do this, just how much money do these back room guys have to protect their stuff, how many attorney's do they have one retainer.
What you guys are missing at this point is how the mod devs are going to receive the money, not only do you have the people who put the tekkit/technic pack together (who I personally despise) but you also have 30+ mod developers who bust their ass to get their own mods working on pc alone, not only is it going to be almost impossible to get their mods ported for a reasonable release date the money for each download not only would get throttled by XBLA and Mojang, but would have to get split up into very,
VERY small amounts for each contributor of the modpack.
There would be no splitting up of any thing for the below reasons mentioned
Even if a "Tekkit" mod were possible to make for mcx, I seriously doubt Mojang or 4J studios would incorporate it as it is third party. Maybe Texturepacks and Maps one day though
Your correct they wont do it with a third party they will do it on their own and they wont pay any rights or royalties, they will develop the mod on their own and they with more then likely use the authors code as a base line and save it as documentation to show the differences in there code to prove they have not stolen anything as well as pull a background check and employment history on the author, this is how it works in the real world outside Xbox360.
interesting indeed tekkit will improve the replay quality for the xbox version but for that to happen they will need the permission from the creaters to use their product an pay them 15% or more from the income of the dlc all that we can hope for are the texture packs an the updates but who knows maybe in time it might be possible for them to mods or dlc but it will take time an by time i mean 1 or 3 years so 4J evrybody is counting on u guys High Hopes
They don't and won't bother
Please read and understand, and most of all the mods including the formentioned one in this thread currently holds no copyrights, in the USA or forgien Countries.
Secound if the mod is rewritten and ported to Xbox then the original author cannot even appoach any courts or magistrates court to hear their case, as it would become a nusance case and would be swept a side and thrown out, in other words it is of my opinion they currently dont have a leg to stand on in this matter.
They can change this by filing a copyright on the said materials / intellectual property
They would only be protected under the "Intellectual Property Act" from the date of filing going forward not retroactive, so if 4J has started developing any of the modules then it is to late for those who are not protected. Please feel free to read on.
The first-sale doctrine has no geographical boundaries and is a defense to copyright infringement when copyrighted goods lawfully made abroad are imported into the U.S. and re-sold According to the 1976 U.S. Copyright Act, a copyright owner has the exclusive right to “distribute copies of a copyrighted work."
This exclusive right to distribute includes a prohibition against “importation into the U.S., without the authority of the owner of the copyright…” of copies of the copyrighted work. However, copyright infringement is limited by the "first-sale" doctrine, which provides that a first buyer (and subsequent owners of) “a particular copy or phonorecord lawfully made under this title….is entitled, without authority of the copyright owner, to sell or otherwise dispose of the possession of that copy....” In other words, the first-sale exhausts the copyright owner’s exclusive distribution rights. An example of lawful distribution is an individual who, subsequent to purchasing an authorized copy of a copyrighted book, sells his copy to another person.
This module holds not even one US or forgein Patents or Patents Pending, it is code as well...
Patent infringement Percentage difference of a product compared to a patented product does not indicate whether the product infringes on claims of the patent. Patent infringement is found either literally or under the Doctrine of Equivalents
it would not be the equivalent because it is not the same platform and would not offer the same things it might be close, because of hardware it cant.
case and point "Mine Craft" and "Castle Miner Z" they are both are block based games, they both have allot of the same elements, yet there is enough difference to keep them out of the US courts and Magistrates court
Just trying to make it a bit simpler for every one to understand.
I had a port stolen from me it was not copywrited, and I found that because I worked for another firm and now it is the property of that firm as well, they got the money and I was terminated over the issue. Read your no-compete clause in your employment contract. I would bet that most of these people already work for software developers and are in violation of the employment agreement.
In closing 4J and Microsoft have Attorney's of whom I am sure they have looked in to this very carefully and know they are in the clear to do this with out a problem.
This took a long time to do in note pad hope I got it readable
The only problem with that is that mods for the pc version are free, and paying even $5 for tekkit is way to much for a mod that is free for other people. I couldn't even stand that they wanted 160 mp for a skin pack, even though it came with 40+ skins, and they were quality skins. Don't call me cheap, I had a good 1600 mp to spend on random stuff. Mods will most likely come to Xbox, but not until after texture packs.
The only problem about doing that is Mojang and 4J have to make the mod. These mods don't come compatible with the Xbox so, they have to go through and add all this stuff which cost money!
While it's possible that tekkit could be added to the xbox- it has about the same odds as slamming a revolving door.
You can post all these 'want' and 'wish' posts you want to, but it's a total waste of time keeping this thread going and frankly, getting kinda silly, cause though some of you may 'wish' it to happen, but you know it won't.
While it's possible that tekkit could be added to the xbox- it has about the same odds as slamming a revolving door.
Wishing and wanting is not a bad thing, being a "give me grab it" is, I don't see any one being a "give me grab it" here, they are making simple wishes and expressing wants.
Monopolize on the idea situation
"I'd pay…." Provide a similar product and take their money
"I need…." While they think they need again provide it and take their money
"I want…." These people will follow and pay and play
"I wish…." ""
Will it happen most likely not, will some like it or close to it happen as a DLC it is possible and most likely or minecraft could reach EOL on Xbox360 from the decline of player interest.
Do not try this as the laws of the 60's have changed and we are in the year 2013.
Second Geneo, you have not lived and or laughed you A$$ off till you have , slammed a revolving door on some one! "slamming a revolving door" this takes a bit of work, unsuspecting victims, a simple chunk of wood and a busy building, so many people have mashed their faces on the glass when you slam the door on them it was not funny. and there was no YouTube back then or it would be on it now.
As well as the revolving door detection center, this requires a few shim placed quickly, one in each direction; then you wave good bye.
Boy they were so pi$$ed .
Understand we had our limits we never trapped a woman or slammed a revolving door on a woman this was the rule.
So it is very possible because this is still done today. slam a revolving door on some one, is just as simple as backing up quick on someone who is not paying attention and pushing the door in the other direction.
With building CCTV in place now you can get caught now and charged with a crime today for that one though no since of humor any more.
My wife forbids me to tell my son's of the evil tricks played of the days gone by
Seriously i would love DLC mods thatll be great but 20 might be pushing it. i say like 10 the game was 20 so 10 is a good price either that or get the big mods and make them a dlc or enable us to get free mods/DLC form the internet to put on a flash drive thatll be great i hope 4JStudios will take this into consideration and make it happen i mean the xbox version is great but you get bored kinds quick since there isnt that many materials its the same thing over and over again.i also think we should send this thread into 4JStudios so the can read it
Maby 4jstudios could create their own version of this tekkit pack then they won't get sued I would also pay about $5 to $10 in usd to add some modernization to my world. This is a great ideal. When they start to drift away from the pc version I hope they at least consider this as part of the plan.
Maby 4jstudios could create their own version of this tekkit pack then they won't get sued
I started from newest to oldest then worked my way forward again coping a pasting to notepad the valid concerns than made sense.
Look up about the law suit issue this was already gone over the cat is out of the bag unless developers change the code now and start obfuscating and encrypting their code then file for a copyright and file the work under the "Intellectual Property Act" going forward they have no rights these rights are not retroactive, so if 4J has started developing any of the modules then it is to late for those who are not protected.
There is a very fine line in ownership in code without a copyright and filing under works under the Intellectual Property Act. Just how many of these guys have the time the money or the attorneys to do this.
Lets put this real simple for everyone to understand two examples.
The very first car invented was by Karl Benz in 1886 why then didn't his is relatives not sue go sue the Dodge Brothers, Henry Ford, Louis- Joseph Chevrolet or for that matter every one in the automotive industry today they are worth trillions. You need only to look up at my first post.
Bill Gates bought DOS for a less then 500 us bucks telling the father of DOS he had nothing. Do you think he went back after making billions up on billions to say here it was worth some thing after all. Not on your life. I doubt he was worried about that the only difference now he takes his booze of his bar instead of out of the trunk of his car and his DUI's are long since cleared.
All this rip off and suing and theft and so on is not constructive I posted why it is not. There are a hundred variations in the coding styles to write the Lib / DLC your want and it does not involve paying the original owner one thin dime.
This is why companies have non compete, with non discloser agreements in the employment contracts with software companies because it is so hard to maintain ownership of the code before it reaches and clears all legal the ease. All it takes is a USB stick and a unsecure work station with unsecure ports and its gone baby!!
I wish they'd remove the price off the thread topic title, it gets peoples hopes up for something that's never going to happen. People need to stop resurrecting this dead thread, Tekkit on minecraft XBLA ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN.
I would have to say that did draw me in when I saw it "TEKKIT Xbox 360 $20." This lib is not possible in its completeness, all though something allot smaller as a DLC could be if all it offered was pipes and blocks with a way to interface the pipes and a value.
I talk to allot of players online who want the same thing and all they want is some thing like this, and not the whole package from the PC and would pay for the DLC I don't need any more skins they do nothing for me.
Legally? No.
Without possibly getting banned? No.
Without jtagging your xbox? No.
Darn it people, if mods are that &($^% important to you, go play the PC version! You can have all the mods you want, for free, legally!
And that's all I have to say.
Edit: interesting, the post I responded to has been deleted….
they work 100%. however there are some strange glitchs with the timing. most timing a normal mineraft player would input such as a button or pressure plate, etc would make the piston disappear for about half a second. the pistons work 100 % for functions that arent visual. like some pistons behind a wall , a t flip flop or something. i also found COMPLETELY covering the inside of your redstone contraption with glowstone will stop the game from having to process the lighting changes for redstone line, repeters and such. Saving your xbox a little work^_^

That'd be too logical.
But it wouldn't work- you couldn't sit on the couch and play MC. And there's already programs to use the 360 controller with PC games out there.
The whole concept going on here is "The xbox should be exactly like the PC version and have all the same features".
Now say that out loud and you'll see how downright foolish that sounds.
Almost as dumb as "The PC version should have all the features of the xbox version."
(Well, if it's the 'Epitome of MC' like some of you think it is, why doesn't it???)

well we already know it will never be the 30,000,000 by 30,000,000 map size like the pc version (xbox360 doesn't have enough ram to pull off such a feat in the first place) so why not focus on that which CAN be improved?
We cant add mods under the TOS we can add DLC's though.
Everyone talks about the new Xbox like it here already when it is not, no price in site, no real specs, just speculation. with allot of pipe dreams.
Most people cant even afford the new Xbox when it comes out and wont buy it and will move it to on Black Fridays only to find out that Mine craft might still have some of the same issues...
Why it is not it is not and I repeat it is not a "Power PC" it will never do every thing the PC version does. you cant edit the files on the fly you cant mod it you cant install mods on it for Mine Craft. If I did not have an issue with my hands I would be on that instead of the Xbox360 version using it with the Tekkit. I own both copies.
Hypothetically, couldn't someone with programming knowledge just reverse-engineer the game to add these things? It would be illegal but no one would know. This would be especially easy with the disc version coming out.
Ah, the ole "it's not illegal if you don't get caught" mentality.
What you're proposing is against every TOS involved- Mojang's, MS's, xbox's, etc.
Is modding this game so important that you're willing to risk fines, jail time, or being banned?
(Oh, that's right- you want someone else to take the risk for you… for free, of course. I got it.)
You guys realize that for only $26.95 you can buy the pc version and get tekkit for free right?
Also instead of adding Tekkit, they do something like the plugin API that is eventually coming to the pc version. From what I understand it adds an option when you generate a new world to apply plugins, plugins are the official term for a mod, the difference between a mod and a plugin is that a mod is not officially licensed by the company, and a plugin is. When you select the option to apply a plugin it brings up a menu that allows you to choose what plugins you would like to apply to that world. I think this would be best for adding "mods" into Minecraft Xbox 360 because it would allow you to easily try out new mods without corrupting save files.
If somebody recoded Tekkit and gave it up for downloads.
I would consider them legendary.
Get a offline account and just play Tekkit offline, no trouble on anybody's account there.
Its Microsoft and they arn't greedy, when it was their Xbox Live ten year anniversary they gave free Xboxs to any one who had xbox live gold for the 10 years. Also they just released Happy Wars by Microsoft studios for free.
P.S. Microsoft is a company if they ever did do something just to make money what do you expect that's the entire point of a business.
I have never heard of this unspoken rule.
Arn't greedy huh? ever heard of xbox live GOLD MEMBERSHIP a whopping $10 a month paid by millions of people every month... and also you don't get to be the richest man in the world by not being greedy, just sayin.(p.s. if you didn't know bill gates owns msft(i know he is like 3rd richest now it doesn't matter...)
