It may seem like a pointless question, but it's actually pretty important. Brightness is crucial to many things in Minecraft like mining, and walking outside at night. So are you daring? Do you play on low gamma and rely on your quick wits and torches?
...or are you resourceful? Do you take advantage of the gamma settings, turning it up very high and having almost night vision?
...or do you just not care?
I prefer high gamma settings as I like the visibility at night. I usually play with other people and we often go our separate ways, so sleeping off the night is generally not an option.
It depends! Peaceful i use high so i dont use much! Any thing else i keep it on default 50% so i know how dark it really is so i can properly place lighting!
I like 69, not 70, not 68, 69. No sexual reference was meant here, i was just adjusting it when I first got the game, and that is my perfect brightness.
I just checked, since I had forgotten my setting. It's at 75. My LCD tends to be a bit dark, so I always end up bumping the gamma or brightness somewhat in games. It's an issue with poor brightness resolution at the lowest levels, something that CRTs handled so well, and which current backlit LCD tech needs to improve drastically. Good plasma is better, but still well behind CRTs, and plasma is too fragile for longterm static displays.
it would be handy if games like this had the configuration wizard for brightness that the COD games have. Basically, you set the brightness to where you can barely see the test reference text. That way, when you play the game, it's at the brightness levels the designer intended as compensated for on your TV.
i always play at maximum gamma so that i can see everything no matter what the light levels are.... i can perfectly see where the radius of light ends on an illuminating block, which is helpful in my branch mines, since i don't have to count how many blocks i have to go before placing a torch... In a 1x2 tunnel, you need to place torches( with 12 spaces between them to prevent mobs from spawing. it just so happens that the 13th block from a torch is the last block that is illuminated by its radius.
i also like to justify it by assuming that my character is a master wizard and can see in the dark. i find i have to use this justification for a lot of things in minecraft, such as the character's ability to carry the equivalent of up to 2,304 cubic meters (36 inventory slots, each capable of holding a stack of 64, not to mention armor) worth of solid material in his pockets WITHOUT it impeding his movement AT ALL...
food for thought.

Hi, I'm "Endo" and I play MCXBLA. Also, check out this Facebook page I made specifically for my MCXBLA pictures.
