So i am confused with the way version numbering is used on minecraft. One moment some is talking about a feature that was introduced in 1.8.3 and then mention 1.0 or 1.3?
Games go through different stages of development and move from an Alpha stage to a Beta stage and then eventually to a release candidate. The XBL version is currently the equivalent of the beta 1.7.3 of the PC version. Our next major update will be the equivalent of the beta 1.8.2 version. 1.0 is the first official release version and 1.2.3 (the update we will receive after beta 1.8.2) will be the equivalent of a full release version. Hope that helps!

Curse Premiumthese would be all the beta versions: http://www.minecraft...on_history/Beta
all the official releases: http://www.minecraft...Version_history
This is very helpful.
