Slime spawning question!

So I know slimes spawn on level 16 or below! What if my spawn pad IS level 15? 16? Will they spawn on them still?

I used this for my xbox 360 minecraft world to find a slime chunk and it worked perfect. Just make sure you can remember the seed you used.

Yes they can spawn on level 16 (y:16), level 12 is the perfect spot, since lava level is around y:11.
