Ever played Diablo 3? Or SC? Or WoW? Or UMAD?
Games like those will never be on consoles so now be jelly and burry your madness in your jelly emotions.
PS:
If you had a TV monitor with an HDMI port and your PC had one also, then you could connect them both and you could watch youtube and porn. Something that you mentioned you can do on consoles... BUT NOW UMAD CUZ I CAN DO BETTA!
Yea well I can get my dog to run into a sliding glass door and have sexual relations with a womenz! So now umad cuz I can do betta!

Obviously a PC is better for MMO's, they weren't built for console so there are very few on 360, but there are a couple. FFXI, Phantasy Star Online 2 (sucks) can't remember anymore, but meh. And since when does having an Xbox mean I can't possibly have a PC at the same time? I have a PC, it's crappy, but decent enough to play Aika, so I'm not that envious of those MMO's you listed. (Except Diablo 3, obviously :P) Just because one genre of game has better online activity doesn't make overall online experience better.
Anyway, I don't see why you're trying to prove the PC to be the "master race" among electronics. So a console is better than a PC for a couple small things, big deal.

The biggest advantage of consoles is that they stay put. PCs are moving targets, for both developers and gamers alike. Every time I look at trying to play Minecraft on PC, I realize getting to it is a challenging game all its own. I need more RAM at the very least, and even if were to bother cramming more of it into my old PC, I'd then be unhappy with the performance. That's assuming I was able to sort out the Java environment, new drivers, etc. Then I'd be wanting a new expensive PC, just to play a game. Console: download game, play it, it works at 60 fps (most of the time) at 720p res. Done! Yeah, it's clearly more limited, and behind the development curve of the PC version. I still think it's a fine super-addictive product. Is it better than the PC version? That depends on whether you have the hardware chops to run the PC version smoothly and consistently. For me, the Xbox version is much better: It actually works.
ok, Im going to break this down for you. Microsoft's XBox runs its own custom operating system. It is indeed a computer just like any PC, yet it is a much more closed operating system than Windows 7 ,XP, Mac OSX, Linux, etc.(and yes there are many, many MANY more than that) When anything is on what people refer to as PC(personal computer) is is SO much more customizable, and it is easier to do so. On PC we have so many mods that we can apply. We have skins(that we can even make ourselves), we have mods, from Tekket to Yogbox, to SteamCraft and on and on.
The reason people choose consoles is because its easier. You buy it, and it works. With a PC you have to maintain drivers and upgrade hardware and make sure everything is running fine. With Consoles, it auto updates, there are no temporary files to worry about. Games. Just. Work.
Developers have a love/hate relationship with consoles. They love them because they know exactly what hardware they are dealing with. They can write their code for that hardware specifically with results in graphics that seem like they can compete with modern PCs, which....they can't. The Xbox's hardware is EXTREMELY old. Which is why developers hate them. The consoles are holding gaming back graphically. Microsoft and Sony are so determined to get their consoles to stay on the market(read PlayStation 2) they are willing to have their game quality suffer.
The truth is, consoles are bad. Anything on them, is by definition, inferior to a desktop computer simply due to the potential and, in many cases, real quality achieved on the desktop computer.
Now I'm not saying that because I game on PC that I'm better than you. Not at all. I'm simply saying that my hardware is better in every category. If it helps, think of it this way:
Every home has a desktop computer(usually). Why bother with a console($250+) when you can get a really good gaming rig for about $800 total. This is also with Steam which is a free service that sells games for super cheap.
Where is this 800$ gaming PC you speak of, if it costs that i would gladly buy a computer to play games on, but every gaming PC that is on the market that I've seen is well over 1000$ which not every person can afford. Id rather spend 250+ on a console that i am guarenteed to be able to play any game that i spent my money on, weather it is a dumbed down version of what a PC can run and handle and weather the graphics are as good or not as good as a PC which to me seems like a selfish way to view playing video games. All i know with every computer that ive had through the years, they either took a dump on me and stopped working, or something happened with a peice or hardware that i had in my computer, in the matter of a few years, ive gone through at least 2 computers that were ****, because i didnt spend the money, or i dont know enough about computers to maintain them properly which ends up costing more money in the end. and in the space of maybe 18 or 20 years having consoles i still have my origianal nintendo and it still works, i have my sega genesis that still works, i have my sega saturn that still works. i have my super nintendo that still works, and whatever came after that still works. i am quite happy with consoles.
Let me throw some fuel on this fire. In short, the best PCs last year were estimated to have about 10X the power of the Xbox 360, but because games have to be programmed through the DirectX api (because there is so much different hardware that can make up a PC, though the article doesn't explain that) they can't outshine the consoles nearly that much. Go read it for some expanded horizons.
On consoles, you can draw maybe 10,000 or 20,000 chunks of geometry in a frame, and you can do that at 30-60fps. On a PC, you can't typically draw more than 2-3,000 without getting into trouble with performance, and that's quite surprising - the PC can actually show you only a tenth of the performance if you need a separate batch for each draw call.
The thing is that consoles can be programmed "direct to metal"--directly to the hardware--because that hardware is a fixed, known quantity. To do that for PCs would require a game engine that can detect every possible hardware build, and contain code for every possible component. Then this code would need to be revised every time a new PC or PC component comes out. I.e., not going to happen.

It's refreshing to see someone who knows about about low-level "direct to metal" programming and the benefits of coding for a specific hardware setup. It really can make an enormous difference.

Nice to hear the tech side of that. I've always told people that its infinitely easier to make something work and work well when you know exactly what sort of hardware setup you are dealing with. There needs to be a little more uniformity to PC hardware, but that can never happen when there are so many companies creating newer and newer hardware. I'd hate to be in the business of making top-end games for PC...you'd have to do soooooo much backtracking everytime a new video card or directX or anything came out.
Just think of how long some games take to make....5 years for some. Think of how much new hardware comes out over the course of 5 years. Screw PC gaming. Its entirely overrated, and the machine is just not suited to the task. I'd rather we just keep making better consoles, maybe even add more keyboard and mouse function to them. I'd totally vote for a 100% abandonment of PC gaming as a whole. Its more trouble than its worth for both ends, the user AND the developer.

I don't know if I would scrap PC gaming altogether. If you can afford to keep up with the latest hardware and rebuild/rebuy a new rig every few years, then you can reap some great gaming benefits in terms of performance and graphic prowess.
If you're like me, on a limited budget and in a tiny apartment (barely have room for my laptop, let alone a desktop in addition) then console gaming is a great benefit. I do appreciate that I don't have to worry about whether or not my hardware will be able to handle a game that I want. I also like knowing that the game will run as best it can (provided it is optimized properly) on my xbox because it was made for that hardware specifically.

One thing minecraft xbox won't get: Free skins, which is ridiculous you pay 20 € for the beta which was 10€ on the pc and plus you need to pay more for a couple of skins where on the pc you get infinite skins for free.
Gotta love microsoft =D
...We have already gotten free skins. We didn't purchase a beta, we bought the official release of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition.
it amaizes me a the pleathora of different types of posts. Yes currently the current version for the pc is better than the xbox360 version. I would even go as far as saying that the pc version of 1.7.3 was better than the current xbox360 version. Now that is nothing against 4J they have done alot rebuilding the current version for the xbox360. As far as graphics go the current gen consoles were superior to the pc versions of the games 7 years ago when they came out. and as a side note a decent gaming rig can be BUILT for 600$ easily.
The PC version of Minecraft can run into unexpected errors during installation and gameplay and there is much more lag than the Xbox Live Arcade version. Also, like others have said before, updates should be coming out soon that should add all of these things into the game.
Im kinda torn between the two. I play games on xbox because all off my friends only have an xbox and think PC gaming is stupid. I also have some games for PC though also. My computer isnt even near high-end. Its a Laptop with a Hard-Drive error, blue screens atleast 5 times a week, and randomly shuts down every day.
Its only 2 years old so I dont know why it has all these problems. (Yet ive never lost a single file.) I only dont like PC gaming because:
A. You spent $1000 for ONLY a tower. You dont have a keyboard, mouse, or monitor yet. Or even games for that matter.
B. There is always something wrong with every game on a PC. It doesnt run right, it doesnt like your video card (what a waste of $1500). Or my favorite one is when the game company knows theres a problem and they flat-out say "We know this is a problem...but were not going to fix it." Its always one thing or another.
I only like consoles because the stuff works, and they are cheap. The games arent nearly as fun as the PC counterparts with all the mods and what-not. (Most likely why I always mod and cheat on xbox games.)

I would love to know the components that you're using because I have built rigs before and I have never been able to build a decent GAMING rig for under $800-900. Between the amount and type of ram necessary to maintain the rig over time, a capable motherboard to make use of the RAM and a graphics card that will not become obsolete in 1 - 1 1/2 years, you're already pushing $400. Not to mention the processor, case, monitor, OS, inputs, a decent sound card, power supply, HD, and external drives necessary to make it a viable gaming rig.
Edit: It is completely possible to build a custom PC for less than $600. It just cannot really be classified as a gaming PC.

No kidding. Just the OS and power supply can run you around 200$. So NOW his pc has to be made with 400$. A good video card is gonna consume at least half of that. Anything less is NOT a gaming computer. So now he has 200$ to buy the case, the processor, the monitor, the mouse, the keyboard, any software, the fans, the inputs, the hard drive, any other drives, (dvd being a biggie), proper inputs and god knows what else.
In short, he is full of crap and the only way you can do what he thinks you can is by stealing the OS and harvesting components from other PC's people do not want.

I saw thw multi weilding from Tobscus videos my bad........
Tell me this WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?
I'm not even sure what the poster you quoted was trying to say. I've played a diablo game on a console, as well as a starcraft game AND an MMO. They all work just fine. In fact, with nothing more than a keyboard/mouse interface addition they would work better than they did on PC because the environment its being played on is 100% controlled.
I've traditionally been a console only gamer. Last year, my friend told me about a game called minecraft (which was then in alpha 1.2). A while later (during beta 1.0) i looked it up on youtube, and loved what I saw. After watching videos from Coestar, Etho's lab, paulsoarsjr, The Yogscast, and UberHaxorNova, I decided I needed the game. I couldn't afford it then, so I got the cracked minecraft in beta 1.2. Months later, during beta 1.6, i bought the game. Now I may sound like a fanboy of pc version, i believe PC is better. Even if xbox gets fully updated, PC still has completely custom skins, hundreds of texture packs ( which can also be customized ), countless, amazing mods, high capacity multiplayer servers, as well as mindblowingly vast map generation ( as XBOX version restricts you to the map given to you when you spawn. PC minecraft makes for a much better overall experience, in my opinion. I do have fun playing both though. Vote: PC Version.
You get 5 skins or so for free yay.
And yes you did buy a beta, you have the exact same features(or less) when pc was on 1.7.3 but just 10 more euro
It is not a beta. It is the official release of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. It doesn't matter what it is compared to the PC version, it is the official release for the Xbox. And I am pretty sure I have gotten 25-30 free skins, along with the 8 different Steve skins. We already know we will get getting more free skins with each map pack. I would say that is not too bad.
Yea well I can get my dog to run into a sliding glass door and have sexual relations with a womenz! So now umad cuz I can do betta!
