Im current building a middle earth themed map, I currently have a Dwarf fortress, a High Elf sanctuary, a Wood Elf realm, and Hobbit Village.(no screenshots yet)
I need new ideas to complete the map, I play on the Original tutorial seed, and there is duplication(NO TNT). Ideas Im currently playing with are:
Orc settlements/ fortress in the desert
Human/Nordic settlement/ city
Spawn area
Dark Elf realm
Any input would be greatly appreciated in any form (reply, message, xbl message). If you want a tour feel free to message me at Cynic41
I suggest toying around with the idea of spawn areas (if your running survival mode). A sort of arena if you will. Not only is it a lot of fun to jump in and slay all the little pixelated monsters, but you can gather a lot of materials that way. Though I'm more partial to the fun of fighting a horde of cuddly creeprs than gathering the gunpowder that they drop. Perhaps if you could, fill a pit with a 1 block deep layer of lava, cooling it to create an obsidian floor since that way you won't cause the bottom to get blown deeper... or you could just leave it and see how big it gets from the exploding fellows. Though a good old fashion mead hall is just as appealing... Hail Odin!
Middle Earth wouldn't be complete without the houses of Rohan. If you feel really inspired, the White City might be a consideration.

Middle earth Themed not an exact replica, I enjoy having creative freedom.
The shire has all the houses built into hills, with bagend being the largest and at the top of the hill. I will most likely had more shops and an Inn soon.
Rohan will be represented by the Nordic settlement. maybe have some sort of large castle/fortress with it like helms deep but probably not.

Rohirrim and old Nordic architecture are very similar(IMHO the Rohirrim are based on the Viking/Nords). Plus the realm will be in an expansive snow biome.
