I'm here to voice my opinion. Now, I've played PC Minecraft ever since the early days when it came out, but that doesn't mean I'm not stuck to it, I play Xbox Minecraft every once in a while. Now, to the point, in PC version, you can make your own skin, upload it, boom, you have a fancy new skin attached to you, for FREE. Now for Xbox, you get default skins, of course, (don't know if still going on) you can get summer skins for free, but those are only skins for free, rest of it, you have to pay. Now, to me, that's not right, since you can get it free PC and pay for Xbox... I know 4JStudios tweeted, "Possibly much later on, but there are issues with doing that on the Xbox that get lawyers all excited." I'm no expert on this kinda stuff, but this has nothing to do with lawyers, or would cause anything to have happen with lawyers. Now, with Microsoft, not sure, since things may have to go through them first, but I don't think that'd matter. I don't know, voice your opinions on here... I know there's gonna be a few rages, so let at it.

You do not understand how a business works. The only reason skins are free on pc is because they are user made. I can assure you if Jeb made those skins himself, you would be paying for it. Now you might wonder why xbox can't have user made skins. Well it has to do with hacking the system and microsoft would not make a profit. No profit makes them made. Also, the money they make helps them put out more updates, because they cost thousands of dollars. The part about the lawyers would have to do with the fact that Microsoft would have to change their terms with companies to allow this and they don't want to. So instead of now willing to give up 2 dollars, think about why this might be a little more deeply. Consumers are always selfish.
1. PC skins are made by the people, so they are free. Xbox ones are made by 4J, so they are not free.
2. As far as I know Mojang does not provide a skin editor, so they are not liable for what people make. Whereas 4J and Microsoft would be liable if they added a skin editor.
3. It is only $2 and is not something you have to buy(I am not buying skin packs).
4. At this point I think it is even more unlikely that we will get a skin editor because then it would be pointless to buy the skins if you can just make them yourself.

^This. Couldn't have said it better myself.
EDIT:
Turns out it has quite a lot to do with lawyers, eh?
They are 160 Microsoft points? How is it a rip off? Cheap much.
It is rip off compared to free. But for what you get it is not a rip off. I understand where the op is coming from, but it seems like he hasn't that about this from the companies point of few.
There are the 8 original skins, the 15 free Summer of Arcade skins, and then 14 from the Skin Pack 1 Trial. So in all, you get 37 free skins. Doesn't sound that bad to me. Neither does paying a whopping $2 for some DLC. If you thought DLC for a game was going to be free, that was your own mistake. 4J confirmed a while before the game came out that DLC would cost money, but updates wouldn't.
How is it a rip off making it a few more penny's than free? I really can't see why people are complaining. If it bothers you so much go back to the PC minecraft. It's simple
It is how humans work. Anything that costs more then another source is considered a rip off. Well at least in ignorant eyes (no offence to op).
Well, I was going to reply to you to counter some of your points, but to see as most of you guys are against me and will neglect my posts, I'll just keep my facts to myself. I realize the OP may of had a few errors of how I worded it, what I put, but if I put more, you guys would of went with me, but with the more you guys are against me, whatever I put, doesn't matter because you'll just go against me no matter what because you believe you're more intelligent than I am. I'm just saying, what you're saying isn't hard to change with Microsoft, TOS, may take a little while, not long, the hacking, if people wanted to hack Microsoft, they'd hack it by now, simple as that, sending made skins isn't a window for hacking. Well, I'm done with this post since all of you are with it, so, good luck wasting your money on the skins. (Hate comments begin)
Is this really still a topic ? I don't want to pay 2 dollars for skins so guess what I didn't. (oh no ) You don't hear me griping about 2 measly dollars or the value of the skins because I could care less what steve looks like. Especially sine 99% of the time I'm looking at his 8 bit forearm and tool in hand. It really isn't a big deal If you're too cheap or don't like the skins don't friggin order them too simple. I personally just prefer a custom skin and since I can't get what i want I'll just be plain old steve. I won't order the skins but I also won't accuse them of thievery or scams because they put work into getting the skins for us so they should be paid for making them since a DLC does cost them time and money to put out for the players.

You mostly sound upset that so many people disagree with you.
In none of the posts in this thread did I ever see anyone trying to say they were more intelligent than you. Also, this is a forum with hundreds, if not thousands of people. Be prepared to have people with different opinions than yours. Did you expect to come on here, say this, and have everyone agree?
The main reason they cost $2 a pop is because it costs thousands of dollars for a developer to host updates/DLC on Microsoft's Xbox Live servers. I'm not sure what DLC costs to host, but hell, it costs around $40,000 for each update 4J puts out. We've seen 3 updates already so 4J has already paid $120,000 out of their own money to get us these updates and DLCs.

This comment is ignorant. You automatically make the assumption that we think we are moer intelligent then you just because we made a differing argument. If you supplied me with enough evidence that i was more about them being greedy then trying to keep the game alive, then I would take you side. This comment you made has proven you are ignorant and nothing you have posted has any point. Btw I believe you used the fallacy that is when you believe no one will listen just because the majority disagree. Please let this die now.
You could always put on some armor and protect your Skin No one will know what you look like!!!! There are a few differences between PC and Console gaming...... User created items being one....This is not the PC version, Skins/Textures and Mods are NOT a given... It's not even at a full release yet.... 60+ available skins within 3 months isn't bad for a console game IMO. Just don't expect a full editor...... Too many kids making **** jokes and the whole licensing thing...... This topic has been covered at nauseum anyway but, I respect your opinion.
The "thing that gets lawyers all excited" is a little term you may have heard, called "copyright infingement," which is what happens when people make a skin in the likeness of a copyrighted character and use it in a game the copright holder isn't making money off of without permission. It has nothing to do with Microsoft changing any kind of terms or contracts or anything. As somebody said, if 4J provides a skin editor and it's used to infringe copyright, they're liable, ie, the copyright holder's lawyers get excited at the prospect of filing a lawsuit against Microsoft and 4J.
So you may be wondering:
Why do we have copyrighted skins in the last skin pack and the up and coming skin pack?
Look at the choice of skins available in the skin packs we just got. Besides Halo, it's all XBLA games, which Microsoft already has partial ownership in the copyrights of these games, and now Halo is also owned by 343 Industries, which is a Microsoft company. They had the licenses to use the characters already.
Why doesn't Mojang get sued for copyrighted skins then?
Because Mojang doesn't support the skin editors, it's all user-made. And before you ask, yes the users who make skins that infringe on copyright are also at risk for a lawsuit. You'll just never hear of an individual user being sued for it, because a) they aren't selling the skins, and b> it would cost more to take a target like what is likely just a 16 year old kid making the skins to court than they'd be able to get out of him.
What about <,this other game> that lets you get custom skins / decals? I've seen copyurighted characters/things in those games too!
More likely than not you're going to refer to a game like Forza Motorsport 4, or Saints Row, or something. All published by big companies with lots of resources to acquire licenses ahead of time / as new infringement issues that come up.
If we get a skin editor, it's going to cost money. Either to support 4J with acquiring licenses to allow users to use copyrighted characters, or to support staff that they''ll need to monitor skins that users submit for use in order to keep out anything that could bring a lawsuit.
In conclusion, if you tl;dr this post and still are feeling ripped off by these skin packs, it's your fault for chooing to remain ignorant. In which case, have fun living with this stress over video game cosmetics.

So I was right about the lawyers needed to be involved just for the wrong reason. Still, it is not that big of a deal that we have to pay 2 dollars for a bunch of skins.
See this is one of those things that annoys me when nothing else will.
A) 4J is the one making them. They cant work for free. Expecting them to work for free is greedy and ignorant. They have lives and need to be paid at some point. And yea, they made a lot of money on the first day but all that money will dry out eventually and they need to make more. That and on the PC you make your own so you dont have to pay anyone for YOUR work.
It's ONLY 2 dollars. 2 God damned dollars. 2 measily little **** ant dollars. If you dont want to fcking spend 2 bloody dollars then dont spend the 2 dollars. But come the hell on, it's only 2 dollars. You get a crap ton of other **** for free.
Get over it.
