Hello, I'm Gidy. I have some questions and concerns for Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. Feel free to answer them.
1. How big is the map going to be in 1.8.2?
Well, obviously the 1024x1024 Land in the 360 Edition is not big enough for the new things in the update such as massive strongholds, NPC Villages, and new + bigger biomes. So is it going to be bigger?
2. How will the 360 Edition generate worlds without taking out biomes or NPC Villages?
As you all know, the 360 Edition doesn't produce a infinite world. (Which is Surprising because castleminer has infinite worlds) So when the world generates it could leave biomes and villages out. So when the world generates how will it include every biome and NPC village? What also concerns me is how big will the massive strong holds be. In the PC it seems like it goes on forever and theres always more to explore but with limited world size in the 360 Edition how will it work?
3. How will animals work in 1.8.2?
In 1.8, animals stopped despawning. When you killed all animals on your land you could venture out and find more because of the infinite world. Well, this issue is just like issue with ore's. Once you've mined all the Diamonds, Coal, Redstone, Iron, and Gold there isn't anymore left in that world. Unless they make the world infinite in 1.8.2, I think once you kill all the animals there will be none left. Maybe they could do a one-for-one thing like when you kill a group of pigs another group will spawn? Or bring down breeding from 1.9? I dunno, but if they just put in the same codes that the PC had then this can be a bigger problem then it already is.
1. As far as we know maps are staying the same size. They are actually 864X864 usable space. They are looking into making them bigger, but no guarantees.
2. As of right now, they have not said anything about worlds that don't spawn with certain things. There is a strong possibility worlds will not have everything.
3. About a month ago they tweeted that animal breeding will be in 1.2.3. More recently they responded that they are looking into this as it is a concern. Once again though, no guarantees anything will be different yet.
Ello there Giddy! Lemme give you some answers to those questions:
1. The map size may increase, but we're not exactly sure how big the dimensions would be. Hopefully 4J will keep us updated on that; the possibility is very conclusive though, so expect a larger map sooner or later.
2. Most likely, you will have a few missing biomes ehre and there. But since almost every map contains enough biome locations to make it work, there shouldn't be a problem. Villages willl exist in every map regardless (it wouldn't make sense considering XBLA Edition maps are still rather large).
3. Animals will not despawn. If you kill one, another will come sooner or later. Many people have questioned animal breeding, but since it does not occur in the 1.8.2 update, you will be stuck exploring for certain animals.
Anything we want we probably will not get, unless they try to do it. Just give things a shot if they work good if they dont, remove it. Minecraft apparently is the most damanding gaming that has been brought over to the console. Ive never played skyrim or elderscrolls but from what i hear the land Masses in that game on xbox are huge, and the look to me seems to be more demanding than minecraft visually. Im sure they can do something but we wont get it. Its just how it is, you want everything play PC, where people use shitty mods, and hacks to be able to have fun in the game because apparently the gameplay isnt that much fun without mods.
Oh my god, these questions are seriously starting to annoy me. They've been answered 100s of times!
You seem mad.
If we can't get increased world sizes, 4J might do something else to compensate, like tweak the terrain generator to ensure we get one stronghold per seed. Here's hoping we can get bigger worlds though, there's a lot to do in the 1.8 update.
I've been wondering this myself. Which ever way you look at it the current map size is just too small. Its totally playable atm but with 1.8 coming up next i just cant imagine having all these new feautres without a bigger map size. It'll be a nasty cluster **** of everything, a silly looking world with a tiny bit of every biome condensed into one small map size.
To be honost i thought the map size was not really a big issue and shrugged it off, but that was when the game came out. Since then ive realized what a pain in the ass it is hoping for a particular biome to appear in your world upon creating it, or wondering if youll have any cacuti, or enough glowstone or clay.
I would be more than happy to load a new world every time i cross the map border. Im Just sayin
I've never understood the anger people feel when "a topic has been started like this before." Jeez just ignore the thread and stop takin the time to post in them if you're tired of seeing them.
I have no problem with the world size, yes it would be totally crammed if it had EVERY biome / new feature in it, but whos to say it has to?
the current maps dont have EVERY biome in them, some might do, but not all of them.
Just keep generating maps until you get one with the biomes you want... A lot easier than recoding the game and potentially causing game ruining bugs.
So if i want to know which items/biomes i can and can't have in a particular world, i have to first thoroughly explore the map to be certain of its contents, right?
so thaaaats the solution to the problem...

Well correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember them mentioning the update will have a checklist for the new features / biomes such as mineshafts etc where you could check the box to have them or not... Saves running around looking, if u check the box u know theyll be there.

Would be a decent edition if it were true, but only because it adds some extra customizability.
The addition of a checklist still does nothing to alleviate the issue of a seriously overcrowded world for people who want to experience even a fraction of what 1.8 has to offer.
Well it's just going to take some time to explore everything. Why would you want to explore everything quickly? In the time it takes you to experience everything, the next update won't seem as bad as a wait, would it.
