You will find clay if you have unexplored areas in your map. If you explored your whole map before the clay fix update(the first update) then the fix will not apply to your world.

What if I just have the whole map filled but I didn't actually dig or mine in all the areas yet?
I believe they updated all the world's to this updated version, but you may have to save and quit your world to get it updated. Not sure how it works...anyways, clay in Minecraft is gray and is on shores near water. It sounds like gravel when you break it and breaks like glowstone, into pieces. It comes in large piles, such as glowstone.

If the whole map is filled out, then the world is fully generated. It doesn't matter if you have actually dug it up. When a chunk is generated it is fully generated from level 0-128.

Really sucks.. I put so much hard work into my world and now I can't even get brick if I want..
Brick really is pretty ugly, but I get the "want to" regardless.
I wish there was an option to "reset" a portion of the map when there is an update. Like pick a 1/4 or even an 1/8th of the map and let it regenerate, with new (Abandoned mineshafts/new biomes/new resources/etc) after an update.

It's ok, brick is kind of ugly. I have the same problem with the upcoming updates.
