As a person who has both, I can certainly answer this!
Because lounging on the couch with a controller is far more comfortable.
Because playing with friends is infinitely easier on the xbox
Because the programming for the PC version is absolute balls and can find you dealing with game crashes and java failures even on the best PC money can buy.
Because its cheap enough to warrant having both, lets be fair...the game rocks enough to be worth 60$ and, even with BOTH, you've only paid 55$.
Because game UI is awesome and a positive improvement over the PC version. In my opinion, of course.
Because it has tutorials that make learning the game better.
Because it has a redstone tutorial AT ALL
And finally
Because its an awesome game that, frankly, deserves being paid for twice.
I have bought it for the PC and Xbox. Before I bought it I wasn't sure if it was really worth the extra money. I was wrong, it was one of my best spent $30! The split-screen function was what made me finally give in to buying it.
I have all 3 versions (PC, 360 and IOS) and do different activities on each version. PC I explore, 360 I build and IOS not much because I can't sleep at night so it's hard to really do anything!
Don't take this for more than it's worth, because it's just a small sample... but two of my friends have already given up on the xbox version and moved over to PC.
In both cases, the reason for moving was mainly because there are still some instances of bugs making worlds very difficult to play in.
In both cases, these players had large worlds in which a bug appeared at a certain point. This bug resets all players inventories (it wipes them out) and resets all player locations back to original spawn (even if you have slept in a bed somewhere). And it does this every time you load the world, from that point forward.
Since both players used spawn prisons as an anti-griefing measure, once player locations are reset to original spawn by this bug, their worlds are essentially "dead" and unplayable. Nobody can escape the spawn prison.
Yes, backups were made constantly. But even tho you can restore an old backup, the bug seems to appear at some point even in the backups.
So either you keep losing work and going to an older backup... or you just give up and go to PC where they don't have this bug.
The OTHER reason people are leaving xbox IMO is the limited world size. The playable world is not 1000x1000, it's 864x864 or so... and after you've played for a few weeks, the difference between the PC with INFINITE world size and the xbox with its very small world size becomes extreme. You can walk from one end of the world to the other in a single game day. It's kind of disappointing and it makes the PC very tempting. In many cases, world seeds may not even have all the items! Cactus may be missing if there is no desert biome. Snow blocks and snowballs and spruce wood may be missing if there's no snow biome. On the PC, it's no big deal, you just go exploring for the materials. On Xbox, it's IS a big deal. If you don't have those items, you are out of luck. Sorry.
My opinions, other people may have different opinions.
The main reason I haven't made the jump yet is because I am a cheapskate and don't want to waste the $20 I already spent on xbox version... and because I prefer to play games on my big screen tv and sit on my comfy couch instead of sitting at my desk with my PC. Dilemmas...

Why wouldn't they just have someone who has played the server rescue them? If they play by themselves there is no reason for a spawn trap in the first place...

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.

The bug causes anyone who spawns in the game (even if they've been there before) to spawn at the main spawn point which they rigged so that no one could get out of without permission from them.
It's a stupid way of avoiding greifers honestly...
I have minecraft on the PC, XBOX 360, and IOS. What i've learned so far is that the PC is best for gameplay. Xbox is best when it comes to multiplayer. IOS isn't that good but i'd say that if you're on the go, it's worth it. So to answer your question, Xbox is fun if you'll have friends to play with.
Umm join a diffrent world.....What does this have to do with "is it worth buying"???? If the OP doesn't have the game... how is it possible to abandon it for the PC version???? Both versions are buggy. That's the game and part of the fun!!!!!!
I missed what was in meshys sig.... I will say it's possible to get MS Points for free legit. Bing/ Xbox rewards etc..... You do have to put in your the time though so your being paid for your time..... If ya have to say It's not a scam, it probably is.... IMO I would be VERY Careful!!!!!! How does this help the OP's original question

The bug doesn't affect everyone in a server, only certain people, to my experience. Happened like that to a few friends on my server, but others are fine.
I have a spawn trap as well and we often rescue the people whom are affected...

Really? From what I've heard it's affected most people who join but it's never happened to me, so idk.
Still think it's a stupid way to avoid greifers. Especially since you can block friends of friends
Do you like Minecraft? If so, then yes.

Buy it - you won't regret it.

OT: i believe this game is worth the buy, definitely.
