Okay, so I was mining for some coal to make torches so I could light up some of the caves I discovered. As I set my first torch on the wall, I noticed some moss stone. I started mining and sure enough I found a dungeon. There was a skeleton spawner in it, but there was a narrow opening so I thought I could kill a few and at least set a torch up in there until I come back with some food and maybe some armor. I swear they were either shooting through the walls (impossible), shooting from above me (also impossible) or they had machine guns for bows (yeah). I quickly went down to two hearts or so and began running. I got shot once on the way out, but I made it out of my mine and next to my house. I was about to go inside, but somehow there were two spiders in there. There is no way they could have broken in because there are no holes in my structure and the double doors were left closed. They were jumping around in there like crazy, I guess they had a few too many Red Bulls. So since it was daytime still, I opened the door to see if they would come out and I didn't let my guard down. I stood there with my sword drawn for a few minutes, and they wouldn't come out. So I turned my back for a few seconds to go kill some pigs so I could regain my health and just kill them inside, but I got attacked from behind and died. I don't even know if it was the spiders (I would assume so, however) because they didn't make a sound when they attacked. Anyway, no problem I'll just spawn inside and kill them. Well it turns out my bed was obstructed, but that is impossible because it's in the middle of a large, open room. I don't remember removing my bed on the way outside, so I guess the spiders must have eaten it or something.
Okay, so here is where I need a bit of help. The game spawned me in an area far from my home. I know this because I've been searching for my house for almost an hour now and haven't seen the slightest trace of it. I'm thinking that I should build a temporary outpost so I can gather the materials to make a map. The reason I think I should make a map is that I built my home at the top of a snowy mountain and I haven't seen much snow at all in my world aside from what is on and around the mountain. If I can find snow on the map, there's a good chance I can find my house again.
I figured it would be best to ask the advice of the knowledgeable people of this forum. So everyone, what do you think I should do? All constructive responses are greatly appreciated, as I would very much like to find my house again haha.
just keep wondering around, set the difficulty to peacefull, and turn brightness way up. You will find your house eventually, it'll only takes like 5 minutes to walk from one edge of the map to the opposite.

I don't know why I never thought of this. That's a pretty good idea too. Thanks! I'll give it a try.

Thanks so much in advance!
I considered that, but I don't want to lose anything. I turned the autosave off just in case though. This might be what I'll do.
