JDawgMillenium, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
My only, singular, complaint with creative mode users and dupers has nothing to do with the actual groups, but a subset among them. The ones that think massive diamond block mansions are even remotely interesting.
They aren't. We get it, rare materials make you think you've done something neato. You haven't. You've shat up the incredible possibilities of creative modes by doing so. Youtube Minecraft top 5's sometime and see what I mean. The people on those videos are amazing....the sheer amount of design and time refining them is mind boggling. Some of those things could easily have taken months to even dream up, let alone build.
The final facts are that the Creative/Survival toggle is in 1.8 on the PC (in the multiplayer department, that is), and we should fully expect to receive the same treatment here.
As for world size expansion: I cannot possibly find a reason that larger worlds are not possible. I know it's an arcade game, but you know what? The Xbox 360 isn't a piece of junk either. It can very much handle much larger, better looking games. I can't foresee this game on 1.8.2 without much larger worlds. I really feel like 4J is going to pull through.
It's been a while since I've been on, I apologize for the long post. A lot to reply to.
I have seen many of posts in this very forum complaining the dupe glitch is/will be fixed. I don't know if it is since I have never used it.
Minecraft has a cult following, a few people getting bored because they "over used" creative mode in a sandbox game (which is to be played however the player wants to play) is not going to be enough to stop 4J from making DLC. With over 3million copies sold or whatever the number is now there are plenty of people to buy DLC if even half of the people who purchased the game bail.
What's not cheating about saving a game before you die, losing everything and then restarting a save before you died? HMMM? Explain that please. We are not whining, we would just like the option to build something quickly. Some of us have lives and can't afford to sit down for 20 hours to mine all the blocks necessary to play the game the way we want to, which is why we bought it. Not to conform to this petty and quite childish "I'm better than you" argument because you spent three days mining in a cave in a VIDEO GAME. Grow up, your not any better because you mined your blocks, it just means you have more time to kill then others.
Again explain how one can cheat in a sandbox game? I hate to tell you but there are actual people who play this game to have fun, with the ability to build some fun pvp maps or adventure maps to then switch over to survival and play through with friends. But since you've never played the PC version you obviously never had the opportunity to do so and the enjoyment that can be had with it.
SO your saying because I save a game I'm cheating?? Wow. I had no idea saving a game was actually cheating Can you explain that to me please? Because if saving was cheating why would every video game the past 15+ years have a save feature. Your reasoning is retarded and also who said that I have more time than others to mine for20 hours? I work, i come home I play MC for a few hours and yeah mining is repetitive but when you find that Diamond block after mining a few minutes it gives you a feeling of accomplishment. You say you dont want to get caught up in petty childish squabbling but you're doing it. I don't care if people want creative Play it all you want to your little heart's content but I don't think you should be able to switch over to Survival just so you can do this or do that people will take advantage of that and to me that's ********. Also don't assume you know me or what i'm about cuz you don't and you really need to give that elitist attitude a rest because you seriously come off like a d bag which you probably are but hey that's not my problem kid

I hope your not right about the toggle switch cuz that's ******** whether it's in PC or not I don't think it should be implemented for Xbox
"Oh, this is just too hard... I'll just switch to Creative so I can build my diamond-goldblock-obsidian monstrosity, then switch back when I'm done."
Kinda like that. But like I said, I really don't give a **** if that's what they wanna do. They're not the kind of people I'll be playing with.
I fully understand both of your views. Your point hiram13pm is especially important because you mention that "they're not the kind of people I'll be playing with." This is why these changes wouldn't affect those who don't want these features: they're completely optional and it's very easy to avoid those who do enjoy the features.

it is optional but you honestly think it's fair to be able to switch between Survival Creative and then back again? To me that doesn't seem too fair and I know people don't give a **** about leaderboards but some people do. they like to see where they are in comparison to the rest of the world and I myself like that but if this switch gets the green light then basically the leaderboards will be null and void

There are ways to prevent things like this from happening. For example, while in Creative mode, stats earned should not count for the Leaderboard. In addition, this toggle should only be available to multiplayer admins and people that the main admin has given rights to. Many people (myself included) would have genuine uses for this feature, such as the ability to create/test redstone structures "on the go".
Believe me, I think that Survival mode is the heart of the game. Nothing is more fun than fighting to keep your hunger bar up to me, and I can't wait to play it that way. Even so, this minor addition will keep everything flowing more smoothly for world owners.
I'd say make any map that's ever been played on creative not count for leaderboards. I could live with that. Or give them their own section. Make creative maps playable in survival mode, but never actually count as survival maps (because they're not playing "Survival Mode", they're playing "Survival Mode when I feel like it"). On maps created as "Survival", lock out Creative. Pick one or the other.

Have you even looked at the leaderboards?! They are already null and void.
I visit the forums here and on GameFAQs (and others) and I see a lot of the same complaints/issues people have with the Xbox version of this game. I can see two changes 4J could implement with the next update that would eliminate most of the threads posted on both boards.
1. Creative Mode Toggle
By adding a Creative Mode checkbox, on the screen designated to select difficulty/online/invite only, would allow users to enter Survival worlds under Creative Mode... and switch back the next time they load their map if they want.
This would allow users to enter Creative Mode, load up a chest full of items their limited Xbox world may not have (clay, cactus, cocoa beans, sugar cane, villager eggs, cats, etc), save & exit and then reenter Survival mode now having these items available to them.
Complaints/topics it would negate:
- Dupers complaining about the removal of their glitch
- People harping on dupers for duping
- Dupers justifying their duping with the "Lack of Creative Mode" argument
- The "I have no clay" users (substitute clay with sugar cane, pumpkins, cacti, etc...)
- Those that REALLY want Creative Mode added
- Those worried the limited world size will make them run out of certain materials
- Those that didn't get a jungle or swamp to spawn... could hand-make them now
2. World Size Expansion
Not sure the complexities of this, how feasible it is or how it will affect framerates/world generation, but if it IS possible, it will solve other issues people have. I'm not talking infinite worlds here, just... double. And by double, I mean adding a border around our existing maps that equals about half the size we currently exist in.
So, the current world size is 862 by 862. By adding a border of 430(ish) around the outer edges, this would increase the world size substantially (my opinion) and if done WITH a major update could allow new biomes/additions to spawn into existing worlds. Maybe even overlapping some of the water that surrounds our maps currently. This would allow villages to spawn, jungles, swamps, mineshafts, strongholds, etc...
I have no idea how this would effect existing handheld maps... Make new ones for the outlying areas? I don't know how the PC handles this. I also don't know how large mineshafts or strongholds generally are... or how this would affect the Nether.
Complaints/topics it would negate:
- Complaining about world size (not everyone will be satisfied until it's infinite, but many may)
- Those that don't want to begin new worlds after the next major update just to get new areas
- Those wanting new areas to explore
Closing comments:
#1 seems like a no brainer and would fix most complaints. #2... way harder and may not ever work, but if they can do it... it would please many people including myself.
Complaints that would still exist:
- Those comparing Xbox to PC
- Those wanting mods
- Those not happy about DLC not being free
- Skins/textures threads
Thoughts?
While I would have to disagree with the reasons you picked the first one, Dupers was a majority of your reasoning. A game update to me is a chance to improve an already released game by fixing things which are not meant to be in game, wither by mistake or by exploit-ment so to speak. You can also improve on a game by adding items to it which enhance the users experience and replay value. But to change something or add something to "satisfy" dupers, is in my opinion absurd.
Back to number 1, Now having creative mode would be a great way to improve on the game and its replay value. Haiving to create a new map each time the game updates is kinda annoying. (done it once, never again) This mode and how you described it, (as an option at start) would be fantastic. Allowing clay, brick, and other stuff added after start of your world.
Number two, now this one to me is a no way one. It is already hard enough on some folks. Lets not make the worlds bigger.
Ask yourself why do I need a bigger map? Is it completely built?
Did I mine everything below me? thats another world (thing about it)

I could live w/that if that was the case but another concern of mine is a host taking advantage of that function. Say they have a hunger games world and the host uses that toggle to his advantage and there could be other concerns of griefing. That's my basic concern and I know that stuff like that happens on PC just from the stories/threads you read on the PC section of this forum.
1st, all the top scores arent legit. no brainer right there.
2nd, and most importantly. once you hit 65535 on a particular resource, it stops counting. Whats the point of a leaderboard that stops tracking your stats once you hit a certain point?

I didn't know that it stops counting once you hit 65535. That's messed up and as for the top scores is it because of duping is that why they aren't legit? If so then i hate duping even more now.

Speak for yourself. I think I've seen at least 2-3 other people aside from yourself who are against having larger worlds while the rest of the MC community on this forum(myself included) really REALLY want larger maps. To me having larger maps means more area to build cities, villages, etc. and also more places to explore which in turn equals more fun. I seriously hope 4j does look into it like they said they would on their twitter feed because the world we craft in now is so constrained and small.

wrong, duping is not the reason. if duping affected leaderboard stats, id have a lot more than 16 obsidian..
I dunno, I actually want them to allow a anytime use toggle between survival and creative. There are some really awesome people out there who could design some really fun survival worlds and servers for us to play in if the are allowed to do that. It would make RPG servers easier to get started. Its a great tool for people who realllllly want to design an awesome server to play survival in. With the possibility of rented servers in the future....this is a great chance awesome worlds we can all enjoy.
Who really cares whats "legit". I wanna have fun, and this is a tool creative and devoted people will use to let me have fun. I have no time for more cock measuring than already goes on here.
I definitely want creative mode but I'm not to bothered about the size of the worlds. Also can someone please explain why people want breeding so much?
Animals don't respawn in 1.8. You can only get them back by breeding, unless 4J changes the spawn code.
