I visit the forums here and on GameFAQs (and others) and I see a lot of the same complaints/issues people have with the Xbox version of this game. I can see two changes 4J could implement with the next update that would eliminate most of the threads posted on both boards.
1. Creative Mode Toggle
By adding a Creative Mode checkbox, on the screen designated to select difficulty/online/invite only, would allow users to enter Survival worlds under Creative Mode... and switch back the next time they load their map if they want.
This would allow users to enter Creative Mode, load up a chest full of items their limited Xbox world may not have (clay, cactus, cocoa beans, sugar cane, villager eggs, cats, etc), save & exit and then reenter Survival mode now having these items available to them.
Complaints/topics it would negate:
- Dupers complaining about the removal of their glitch
- People harping on dupers for duping
- Dupers justifying their duping with the "Lack of Creative Mode" argument
- The "I have no clay" users (substitute clay with sugar cane, pumpkins, cacti, etc...)
- Those that REALLY want Creative Mode added
- Those worried the limited world size will make them run out of certain materials
- Those that didn't get a jungle or swamp to spawn... could hand-make them now
2. World Size Expansion
Not sure the complexities of this, how feasible it is or how it will affect framerates/world generation, but if it IS possible, it will solve other issues people have. I'm not talking infinite worlds here, just... double. And by double, I mean adding a border around our existing maps that equals about half the size we currently exist in.
So, the current world size is 862 by 862. By adding a border of 430(ish) around the outer edges, this would increase the world size substantially (my opinion) and if done WITH a major update could allow new biomes/additions to spawn into existing worlds. Maybe even overlapping some of the water that surrounds our maps currently. This would allow villages to spawn, jungles, swamps, mineshafts, strongholds, etc...
I have no idea how this would effect existing handheld maps... Make new ones for the outlying areas? I don't know how the PC handles this. I also don't know how large mineshafts or strongholds generally are... or how this would affect the Nether.
Complaints/topics it would negate:
- Complaining about world size (not everyone will be satisfied until it's infinite, but many may)
- Those that don't want to begin new worlds after the next major update just to get new areas
- Those wanting new areas to explore
Closing comments:
#1 seems like a no brainer and would fix most complaints. #2... way harder and may not ever work, but if they can do it... it would please many people including myself.
Complaints that would still exist:
- Those comparing Xbox to PC
- Those wanting mods
- Those not happy about DLC not being free
- Skins/textures threads

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
If they remove or reduce(maybe reduce) splitscreen, we can have larger world size. I also think our old worlds will be increase along with our maps.
As for creative mode, its not really gonna erase most complaints considering that not that much people is complaining about things that are major. Top two complaints: World size and breeding. Breeding, make that #1 and you'll find a whole lot of complaints.
the 1st one I strongly disagree with, for starters it takes the need to mine for materials out of the game and is basically a "legit" way to do lame duplication glitches... in other words it legitimizes lameness. The authenticity of gigantic structures that take days to mine the materials for and build, would be destroyed because people would just look at it and go "yawn, creative mode", just like when you see people posting screenshots of gold block houses (etc)... you instantly know that they duped it or were extremely, exceptionally, impossibly lucky to acquire all that gold.
Keep creative mode seperate and don't allow a toggle - it retains the authenticity of both modes, two modes which should truly be kept seperate.
I don't see why everyone is so worked up over "I built this in creative" or "I built this in survival". I think a toggle function would be good, if you don't want to use creative, then don't. If all you're worried about is someone posting a picture claiming it to be "legit" when it was done in creative that's pretty sad.
I think the more options the better. It makes for a more enjoyable experience for all to play the way they want to play the game. I would also like to see bigger worlds, however it's not a deal breaker in my eyes.

I'm indifferent on the world size issue. I don't think the size is a huge problem per-say, but I am going to be slightly peeved if I miss out on a lot of new features in my currently created world, a world which I have invested a tremendous amount of time in and that has gorgeous landscape. Beggars can't be choosers though?!
I would to build a two castles on creative and then switch to survival to have wars with the other one. It all depends on what kind of people you're playing with.

I absolutely agree. What do I care whether someone build something in creative or survivial mode? Doesn't concern me at all, and neither should it concern anyone else.
I think it would be a wonderful idea if you can create something in creative mode and then play that map in survival. Things like Survivial Island and Skyblock spring to mind. For instance, I could build a large island with buried resources in creative, and then let my wife play it in survival (I don't mind her playing on my account even though she has her own).

Exactly. I'm in the same "Mind Your Own Business" boat. If you don't like the feature... don't use it. But at least having that feature exist would make many others happy... so why force everyone to play by your personal set of rules? It's selfish.

Also can someone please explain why people want breeding so much?
Because it's fun? You don't have to run around anymore hunting cows for leather or sheep for wool. You can have your small (or large) farm and breed them. And unless I'm mistaken, once we get breeding, animals will stop spawning all over the place, which means they won't spawn in my wheat fields anymore and ruin it.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.
I do not support the ability to change between Creative Mode and Survival Mode. I can see why someone would want that power, yet there are consequences to the general group of players. Most people will abuse it constantly, and from what I have seen occur multiple times, this makes them get bored of the game and eventually leave. Also, you cannot tell if a build was created in which mode (yes, that affects how much hard work was put inside it).
I do, however, support an increase of the world size (if possible). My current project, over 15% done, uses up the entire world space. I will have little remaining space for other things to be completed.

I want breeding here mainly because of duplicators talking about using thousands of blocks of rare wools in their defense. They won't be arguing that when with a large enough Sheep farm, 1,000 wool of any color can be collected in one run.
I don't have a problem with the idea of easy level creation, but mixing level creation with regular play disincentivizes the very thing minecraft is about - mining, building and a strategy to get it all done.
Agreed. That is why the majority of its abusers would abort this game shortly.
You guys can say all you want about my opinion on this but it's just that... an opinion... and I think "cheating" with the creative mode toggle is just as bad as duping, which plenty of people certainly have something to say about.
I respect your opinion, and I also have something to say about the duping glitch: I don't care.
Seriously, why should I care about whether or not someone uses it? Does it affect me in any way? No, it doesn't. Thus everyone is free to use the duping glitch as much or little, if at all, as they like.

The very thing Minecraft is about is freedom of choice in how you want to play it. Want to play hardcore survivial? Go ahead. Want to just build thing? Go ahead. Want to mix those two styles up? You guessed it - Go ahead!

Survival and creative should be a choice that you make when creating a world. Once made it is permanent, like on the pc, but while in creative mode be able to toggle between survival and creative.
It should be just like on the PC: You create a world in creative mode and then can switch back and forth between creative and survivial as you see fit.

My #1 suggestion, while getting rid of many complaints, would create a new one.
The "I did this in survival - no you didn't - yes, I did" threads would be everywhere.
But still... I'd prefer to be able to add things to my world that I would have to otherwise do without after major updates.

The increase of the world size will give you that. That is something that I do want to have. The only negative effect it could have would be that very new players could get easily lost. Even then, that isn't a large downside.

If that whole situation prevents a good update from happening, then that's ****ing stupid. I'm all for having creative mode being toggled in game. If other people get mad because people lie about a picture, then they have way bigger problems to worry about themselves.

So you don't want this feature because people may abuse it and then stop playing? If so then my counterpoints are
A) People won't leave because of this feature, they haven't left because of the dupe glitch... in fact many complain they want it left in.
B ) Why do you care if someone 1000 miles away decides to stop playing Minecraft. I for one will walk away from it for a while as soon as Borderlands 2 comes out, trust me, it won't affect you in the least.
C) I don't care, and neither should anyone else care, if something has been built in creative or survival. If it is a good looking build, I say wow, that is cool looking, never have I wondered if someone actually mined the blocks or not.
i actually support your first idea very much. To get about "half?" the update you have to make a new world. What i was thinking is that instead of making new worlds they update everything into your world [basically you can switch back and fourth with the modes and get items you cant have]
So you don't want this feature because people may abuse it and then stop playing? If so then my counterpoints are

Then they are a minority. I have never seen supporting for it by anyone on Xbox Live.

There is such a thing called "downloadable content." If no one is there to buy DLC, 4J Studios stops getting money to make updates. If that happens, this game will eventually become abandoned. THAT is why I care.
C) I don't care, and neither should anyone else care, if something has been built in creative or survival. If it is a good looking build, I say wow, that is cool looking, never have I wondered if someone actually mined the blocks or not.
This part is too opinionated. I cannot say anything more about it without starting a long debate.
Only way to stop people from complaining is to end the world.
People will always feel the need to complain about something. Just how it is, There is no stopping it!
