That would make sense, so basically if they want to increase the world size, they need to disable the split screen option
This would make sense, so basically if they want to make world sizes bigger, they need to disable the split screen option, which would enable you to have worlds four times the size
I really think that option would cause an uproar in the Xbox community. As much as I want bigger worlds, I would rather have our current world size then to take off splitscreen.
What if, and I'm not programmer, they reduced the draw distance in splitscreen? Would that help memory usage or is the entire map loaded all at once?

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I will say I agree that we need a larger world size. A way larger world size. As for Microsof they are in it for the money and Minecraft is bringing in the cash. I would not be shocked to see an exception made here or there for minecraft and would be surprised to find that hasnt already happend with COD and Halo.
Why dont they change it to where when you start a map, if you plan on using split-screen, you select you want a split screen map, which is smaller. However, if you dont plan on using split screen, you select that option, which loads a bigger world. I promise you there is a way around this. Microsoft has made exceptions to Arcade game files before.
I really don't understand people's desire for bigger worlds. All they do is fill it with crappy things anyway. Now, I'm not saying that my buildings are better but I do tend to use only 3 to 4 tenths of the whole world for building. That's probably because I have no interest in small structures. When I build - I build big.
Then again there's the multiplayer part of the game. And it's sure is one of its jewels. It is reason enough for bigger worlds. I kinda get a feeling that Microsoft won't allow larger savefiles but J4 can still find a workaround. Some ideas have already been introduced.

It isn't about room for building. It is (at least for me) making sure I can have everything the game has to offer in 1 world, and not feel cramped. Think about all the stuff we are waiting on, such as villages, desert villages, lots of biomes, strongholds, ravines, abandoned mineshafts, and more. Either worlds will be missing out on a lot of stuff, or worlds will be really cramped with everything. The ability to have bigger worlds will spread things out more.
The 4 player split screen is a bit idiotic as a reason as the game was designed to only immediately load the area around the player, as you can split 4 people on the current maps you would end up using the same amount of active load on the memory from 4 players seperated from one another no matter the map size.
Honestly, I would rather have more blocks for building than bigger worlds. If anything I want the option for smaller worlds as they are far better for small scale PvP games.
unless its skyblock then other wise i completly agree
^lol
I'd rather them focus on new content than increasing world size. I do want bigger words, but nobody knows if it's even possible to do so, whereas we already know that we're going to get all the PC equivalent updates. Anticipating larger world sizes is an idle hope at best right now, so I'd rather them just keep to the update path and look at larger worlds on the side, rather then shifting updates to #2 in priority to go chase a solution to a problem that might not even HAVE a solution.
I agree with this. At least increase the map size somewhat. It's not fair to put all this time into a world, only to have to start over. My world still doesn't even have clay, and I have put lots of hours into it...
You can make as many worlds as you'd like, sure. But if you connect them all - this'll make it one huge world (making the save file huge as hell).
On the other hand you could just travel between them (not combining it into one). This indeed is a great solution offered by someone some time ago. But tecnically the world size won't change at all.
You're talking about it being something like the transition between the Minecraft world and the Nether, except between each Minecraft world?

Keep 4-player split screen, lose larger worlds.
Get larger worlds, lose 4-player split screen.
What a conundrum.
Would make an interesting poll, huh?
(But I'll still wait for 4J's "official" response).

Retired Staff2 player vs 4 player splitscreen...
On one hand I would love to have a bigger world.
But I want 1.8 asap and I can handle not having some terrain generation features that 1.8 as in my current worlds
