For some reason when I throw eggs at any surface in attempt for a chicken to spawn it never happens. I've thrown 6 stacks of 16 eggs at a cobblestone wall and nothing happens. I tried using a dispenser and other people with no luck. The animation for the egg exploding appears but nothing ever hatches. I've tried quitting and restarting the game and restarting my xbox with no help. Any suggestions on what to do?

Eggs only have a small chance of spawing a chicken (1:8). Keep trying.

Perhaps throwing them in lava will increase the chances of successful incubation?

I keep my cacti in a chest underwater, because it helps to keep them hydrated and moist.

I've had to have thrown at least 500 eggs and not gotten a single chicken. There's no way my luck is that bad

Take break's between throws, might help. And throw at the ground that has grass, Might help to.

tried that too. Nothing

Just hoard them until a proper farm can be made. Then prank your friends..........

So did it take longer to wait for the chickens to hatch than it did to throw 6 stacks all together? thats a lot of time haha

I started one chicken farm and got the 6 stacks for cake. Now I want more eggs so I'm starting a new farm. It took a fraction of the time to throw the eggs.

There must be a limit of passive mobs..how many chickens do you have right now?

Zero + natural spawning chickens

Yea mine aren't duped either and still no luck... throwing eggs in lava? didn't think that would be the brightest idea
But my luck can't be that bad that I get zero chickens from over 300 eggs.. I have no chickens in my chicken farm and there are only naturally spawning ones, so I couldn't over a mob limit.

Have you tried killing all mobs in the area first? Maybe mob limit is not based on animal type?
