Ok so I just bought minecraft for my xbox and I've never played it before. So I explored and played around in peaceful but the decided to make a new game on easy.
But I keep being woken up to zombies and such.
I've gotten online and have done my research on this, I tried having the bed 2 blocks from all walls, house is made completely out of flat stone, double doors and single doors both, torches outside my door, more torches inside, and the only thing that worked was taking out my door completely and blocking it up.
This is a problem as I don't whant to do this every day, I can't find anything else on this so any help is much appreciated.
I've noticed this too, since the update. I think I'm going to try placing a bed at least 10+ blocks away from anyplace a mob could possibly spawn; a well-lit courtyard around the house or a tall-ish tower might do the trick. Presently, my bed is away from walls, but still within 2-3 blocks of an exterior wall.
Edit: Come to think of it, I recently put an exterior yard in (got tired of creepers hanging around the door in the mornings) with it's own door... so effectively I have an "inner and outer gate" kind of setup... and I can't remember if I was still getting pestered when trying to sleep. I'll check it tonight & get back to you.
Double doors. They can be a really big problem. My suggestion is make your bed in a spare room with a single door.
Your house may also be located on top of a mob spawner/cave. Check the area around you, and maybe even elevate your house a bit (if necessary) by digging around it and have it almost in air. That would be a seriously imperfect precaution, but it does happen.

AHA!!! It's the double doors! My place has double doors; the nighttime "visits" stopped after I put in the courtyard with it's *single* door.
Try putting in an interior bedroom with it's own single door.
As I said I already made sure that my bed was in the middle of the room and I tried both double and single doors. The absolute only thing that worked was no door. Maybe I'm over or under a cave where they can spawn I just built into a mountain to that's possible.

My current setup is bedroom with double doors which lead to another area with a single door going outside. Door behind a door; to get to the bed from a place where mobs would normally spawn, you must pass through 2 doors (or sets of doors). Try that.
If you're close enough to a spawner (dungeon) you should be able to hear them. Have you run some test shafts deeper into the mountain yet?
Not near a spawner but having another room has helped. The only thing I can think of is that somehow they are able to glitch through the door enough to wake me up, because I've seen animals stick their head through my door somehow. Anyways I haven't been destirbed in a few days so it seems to have worked.
