It's getting to the point where I won't even join another person's world, because I know that all I'll see is big, square buildings made out of gold and diamond, with flaming netherrack freaking EVERYWHERE.
I'd hate to see someone hand these people an alcoholic beverage(s), because they apparently have no impulse control.

I agree. I do not dupe however I allow people on my server to. I don't want to push people away from being creative, because they "like the diamond, gold, and obsidian colors"... Or so they say. (which i'm sure is why everyone has duped armor too, lol)
So obviously there are a few buildings made of ridiculous colors and materials and I must agree, it's obnoxious at times. But hey, we all start somewhere. Hopefully people grow out of the phase and try less intrusive colors and ideas.

Yeah, right... if you're trying to impress upon me that you're unimaginative, too lazy to get things legit so you dupe, AND you must hang out with a lot of extremely shallow people, since generally these things are built to impress one's friends, and if your friends are actually impressed by that... ew....
Agreed, I actually don't care much for the gold an diamond colors. The only time I have ever used them for building was when I was making a middle eastern style mosque and used gold for the domes and some diamond for trim color. (that was on PC creative mode btw)

Not my worlds. I build only organic in reaction to the landscape, generally. Love buildings and things that are obviously built but seem to exist as part of the environment, not in spite of it.
No big ugly square builds on mine, and no massive piles or walls of ugly gold and diamond. Except in the treasure vaults, of course. Those two diamond and 6 gold blocks stashed away there on one of my maps? Feels good knowing they were mined the hard way. Especially those two sexy blue blocks.
