I'm a super indecisive person - which is not helpful in this game. When I created my first (and only) world I quickly formed a solid plan: Mine. Build a house. Build more structures throughout this world. Connect them all via an underground rail system.
The problem is this plan changes every day. I've managed to build the house and make sections of the rail system. But then I get distracted. This past weekend I probably spent 8 hours digging straight down. Just. Digging.
I'm actually developing a love/hate relationship with Minecraft and my wife wishes I would go back to Call of Duty.
Anyway, as of last night my new plan is to not rely on a plan. I'm going to explore this world more and just do what comes to me at that moment. This plan will last until the next time I play of course and runs the risk of driving me even more insane.
Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
MC, a world calk full of "Oh, shiny!" Although, I will admit that I'm usually pretty good with staying on target and planning ahead. I get to the point where I'm all, "God! I am so tired of building in this area. This freaking house is taking too long!" Then I make myself stay with it until it's finished or I know I'll never get back to it.
I just started another map and am taking a much more stress free approach to it (in no small part because my husband is about fed up with my obsessive nature with this game). Build on what I want for a little while, go digging until I'm satisfied (maybe combined with hollowing out a room or working on my mob grinder), go make some fuel or smelt some glass and stone, chase sheep wielding my shears maniacally, or go be a MC tourist.
Okay, so maybe MC is just a giant time sink and my spouse will have to be patient in getting me back into playing Civ5 and Diablo3 with him.

I am a Minecraft tourist. I am currently unavailable under the XBoxLIVE ID listed here but can be found under ZombieL0C0. If you see me online playing Minecraft, send a message and I will gladly take a stroll through your world.
Count yourself lucky that you dont have three or four friends jumping in and 'helping' you,
There are so many different things to do it too easy to get distracted.
You start with the goal of building a wall and end of with taming two dogs on the way, you spot an opening to an underground cave - then you find diamond. So you think i'll make some diamond tools to build the wall. On the way to the work bench you realise you're going to need......i could go on - but my point is that you're not the only one.
This game is just one big distraction.
When watching it I find myself almost hypnotised.
I used to just play COD and only COD - now its COD till i get pissed off (not v long) and then minecraft for the rest of the night.
I sold my COD Games for minecraft talk about a huge devotion lol I raged off of COD For Mc XD

I second that notion.
