Well i was wondering if anybody knows how the furnace minecarts do. i thought they could push stuff which they didn't, i also tried it pushing a chest cart, did work. cause me and my friends got this huge moutain and a rail going down it and down into bedrock, so we thought the furnace minecart could push us up, we fail. and yes we put coal in it. is the only thing a furnace minecart do is push itself? or do i have to do something that i am missing?
From what saw of mine carts with furnaces they are direction 1 way deals. But even on Pc v 1.2.5 they still only work so so that is when I was watching chimneyswift spellbound caves about 2 weeks ago

"A player in a cart adds significant weight, requiring more power to push.
1/1 slopes are too steep for a single Minecart with Furnace to push a single occupied cart uphill. 1/2 slopes (one flat-rail between each up-ramp) will allow you to push your train upwards, as it appears the Minecarts with Furnace have force applied in intervals.
Multiple Minecarts with Furnace yield more pushing power; 2 powered minecarts can push a player-occupied minecart up a 1/1 slope. (although very slowly). Three powered minecarts can push an occupied minecart up such a slope a very little bit faster but adding more powered carts doesn't have much effect on the speed.
In normal worlds, Powered Minecarts become obsolete as soon as you acquire sufficient numbers of Powered Rails. They have significant drawbacks as opposed to powered rails, being unable to effectively move players up hills, and consume a constant supply of coal or charcoal, a valuable resource. Because of this, most players do not even bother with them and instead wait until they have a sufficient supply of both iron and gold before creating a railroad."
Sorry for the long post but figured you might wanna read all the important stuff.

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
If I recall they will push you, just slowly, and it's quite a pain to get it going accurately.
I would suggest placing powered rails. It takes a bit of gold- but if you want to get from A to B quickly it's quite useful. If you set up a powered rail at each end with a button nearby to power it- you can set your cart down and jump in it, pressing the button to activate it. When you hit the other end the rail (unpowered until you press the button again) will act as a brake for your cart.

so... do they only push themselves?
