Short answer bug patch is next. 1.8.2 is Sept at the earliest. Now go to wiki and read Minecraft version history. Then print out the versions so you can read when your Internet is slow
There is no release date that ive seen for the 1.8 update yet. I read a tweet saying that they will be doing a bugfix update first, then 1.8 sometime after. I also read on twitter that creative mode will be in the 1.8 update. If you have twitter follow 4Jstudios, its the best way to stay update.
