Derp, user-made addons are calledMods for Minecraft (Fully downloadable). 4J hasn't confirmed or denied adding paid DLC as of now.
If you heard that, you're terribly misinformed.
They have confirmed paid DLC(that is what the skin packs and possible future texture packs are). They have not confirmed mods, though they are looking into adding them.
Microsoft became extremely ban happy somewhere along the line. What happened to the good old original Xbox days when you only got banned from playing ranked matches for modding? And it was easy, you could soft mod using only Action Replay and the original Splinter Cell. Soft modding actually did something back then too, now it's just a glorified cheat code. These days you have to open your 360 and do shifty things, and if you don't mess up your console you'll be banned anyway.
I might try one of those newfangled methods on the 360 when a next-gen console finally comes out. And I'll definitely be buying a Sony console next time, to hell with Microsoft. Sorry if I broke any rules or something during that rant.

How can any console not "steal" ideas? Of course there will be a ton of similarities, I would just prefer one of their consoles, Sony isn't quite as money-hungry as Microsoft. I don't have that extensive of experience with the PS3, but I have played with one several times and there are features they have that Xbox doesn't. The system PS3 runs on gives a lot more freedom than 360, and having an internet browser is pretty awesome. Oh, but now the Xbox has YouTube and Facebook and a thousand other apps. So, who exactly is stealing ideas again?
As for hacking, doesn't Microsoft check for flashed drives? Of course you can get away with soft modding, (gamesave modding) nobody cares about that since it couldn't give you a real advantage in online gameplay. I'm just saying modding your Xbox isn't as easy anymore, or worth the risk. Plus it's ridiculously expensive, you have to buy a $100+ card to replace your BIOS. Even if I went through the trouble, the best part of modding is sharing the experience with your friends. They won't be able to actually see the visual aspect of the mods, but alot of the functions will still work. Like in Halo 2, they can still fire an assault rifle with bullets that are now sticky nades, or they can ride around with you in a flying golden warthog, it just won't appear as gold to them.
