Yes, it may not be skyblock, but, I have found... A survival island seed. With what ever you need, you never need to leave the island on the giant lake.I have found about 6 diamonds in the perimeter of the island underground (hard to find,) for those of who you who want diamonds.

There are lots of seeds like that. There are even some where you start on a smaller island with fewer trees. However, it will never be a true survival island until we have oceans.
I'm just going to wait for 1.8 before I attempt survival island. It kills the survival island aspect when you look and see land everywhere around your island.

No, the 404 challenge involves digging up a gravel beach during night 1. Doing so opens up a cavern where water carries you all the way down to (near) bedrock. The challenge is to live underground until you die. The only items from above ground you're allowed to use are the ones you grabbed day 1

You play on normal or hard? I find that the torch restriction is the real ball-crusher, I play on hard (when I do challenges, normal otherwise)so getting off the ground is the hard part. Once your established with lava-lamps and such its pretty easy to keep the mobs at bay

I haven't tried survival island ( I would but I haven't found a proper seed, and spending a lot of time creating one just to dump all my stuff and start anew seems kinda against the point to me) but it seems it would be good fun. How small is an island when you first start? Are there further restrictions like the "no torches" rule in the 404 challenge? I see it being talked about all the time, but can't seem to find details, when I type "survival island" into the search, more topics then I'll ever care to peruse come up

There are pretty much no rules except "No duplicating, no finding other islands" etc etc

If you want to play a survival island game, all you have to do is spawn a random world and find a small island, make it have one tree, and throw away anything you used to clear it down. A friend and I got an island about 20 blocks by 15 blocks and had a lot of fun playing on it, but we stopped after our 10th diamond was found. Then we start a new one. Each island lasts about 5 days as we play until we find 10 diamonds. Takes a long time for us because we are both surface dwellers...

Once we hit 1.8.2, we'll have true survival island worlds like below.
That's what I'm talking about. Ever since I saw a few vids of survival island on Youtube I've been dying to play one on the 360 but we have no good seeds(I don't feel like creating it. Too much work). I seriously can't wait for 1.8.2. This is the update that has me most excited specifically because we get to have a real Survival Island.
