I was reading a few posts and people have been debating how if you're a host you should be able to force a texture pack to the player. Some others have debating saying that that wouldn't be possible to just "force" it onto somone, but it would be a a good thing for the world so you can see the world how others want it to be seen.
Well what if people didn't have to pay for texture packs?
That would be a tad different, then. But you need to consider this: if we have to pay for skins, we're almost certainly going to have to buy texture packs. They'd be more time consuming for 4J to create.
Nobody is saying it wouldn't be possible. We're saying it shouldn't be possible, at least not until the Xbox 360 Edition catches up to the 1.3 update where that is actual an option on the Pc. I don't want texture packs forced on me when playing. I want to be able to use what I want to. That would defeat the purpose of me buying the texture packs. I play 90% of the time with others, and would hate having to use a texture pack I wouldn't want to.

We will. they're DLC and DLC costs money. They've already said so.
You have a point, but as the admin of a server you should be able to force it onto a player, or you can just get kicked or whatever. <3

I don't see how someone should be allowed to dictate which of the purchased products I will be using. It's much different on the PC because texture packs are free. The same rules don't really apply here.

It still wouldn't matter. You shouldn't be allowed to force a certain view on anyone, especially if it's something they paid money for. They bought it so that they could see Minecraft in the way they wanted, not so admins could randomly decide that they know what's best for them.

Well, if they think they should be able to see it how they want (and they should completely) but they can make there own world how they like it.
Admins could simply mention a "recommended for this server" texture pack. That way, players know how to get the most out of a server if they so please.
We'll be paying for just about everything. I don't mind, they're cheap. As for textures. It would make sense for guests to see the world with your current textures, as you probably built everything taking those textures into consideration.
my take on the whole texture pack deal is that you should be able to pick the texture pack you like when you create a game as host and have the option to choose a texure when you create/choose a block in hand/inventory, so you could have differnet textures of stone right next to each other and everyone in the game sees all the textures made by everyone. differnet people have different tastes so why not make it so we can all have our own "flavor" on one map. thank you

well they can dictate wether you are in thier game so it does not matter i agree with both points of view and it is up to 4j not us stop whining
How does it work on pc? How ever it works there then it would work here.
On the PC, anyone can use whatever texture pack they want.
Two people on the same server can use two different texture packs basically.
(They are however adding this very option into the PCs 1.3 update where a server can force a texture pack on anyone who joins. Thankfully, all of the servers I play on don't like it and won't be doing it.)

Not to mention that would essentially be sharing texutre packs, which might result in less people buying them.

This whole debate is the same as forcing someone to play the game a certain way debate.
