People saying that animals won't respawn doesn't make any sense...if that were true I doubt they would have implemented the fact that untamed wolves attack and kill sheep all the time....Another thing is that I have killed hundreds of pigs for pork chops just around the area where I am building and they still appear without me having to leave my little area to find them...so I really don't believe this claim is true at all
Animals won't respawn in version 1.8. We're currently playing in 1.7.3.

its not a claim, this is exactly what happened with the pc version...
That's the part changing Max. In 1.8 you have to go to a new area to find animals. Not wait for them to respawn AFAIK. With the world size limit, at some point the land will be lifeless except for things trying to kill you. Oh and yes, wolves eating mobs maybe a concern also.... I'm not sure when the AI changed.
I see u are all somewhat questioning the fact that they won't respawn. This occured in 1.8 on pc. I was playing it on pc at that point and it was extrememly annoying but bareable on pc because the worlds were infinite. This is not the case in xbox because our world size is limited. Please tweet them to fix this
Wait,
They should still respawn shouldn't they? Just because they wont despawn doesn't mean if you kill some more wont spawn
That's part of the persistence. If you kill all the animals in a chunk, that chunk will be void of all animals. Unless some wander in from other chunks, but that doesn't change much.
If they had to put in breeding, it would delay the update by more than a day or two.
Also, the forums will erupt with frustration even if they do it. People will still find something to complain about.
So you are tlling me you are ok with your survival world not having any animals? I am not willing to wait another 2-3 months for a feature that has already frustrated the pc players. The point of this is to learn from past mistakes. And they already have the coding for it they just need to transfer it to xbox language, so it shouldn't take too long.

Oh! Well, I thought they would respawn based on chunk

They could just make it so animals still respawn. That may be the best idea. But, I still really love the fact that animals wouldn't despawn. I like to trap them.

This would probably be the best idea. i just want people to tweet them so we know if it will be in the update or not. If breeding will not be in the update and animals won't respawn then we have the problems. So I beg everyone to ask as this will have severe consequences if we don't

It would be completely fine with me. Leather, wool, feathers, and all food from animals are not necessities in my worlds. Leather is only good for the worst armor, I only use wool for carpets, I don't use arrows so no need for feathers, and food is easily obtainable other ways.
Would be absolutely no big deal to wait for it, just like I did on the PC version.
Animals would be able to breed on their own to solve any problems with killing off all the animals.
Eh? Eh?
No one really acknowledged my comment earlier on a real level, would this be applicable? It would force you to worry about the animal population and over killing, like in real life somewhat. Of course they wouldn't go around humping eachother. Probably the same way they breed on the pc version. Only on the xbox though they just breed automatically.

Wolves only kill sheep. They do not kill pigs, cows, or chickens unless you attack them while having your wolves follow you.
Although it would be fine with you, for many others it would be game breaking. For builders it might be ok, but for survivalists, it ruins part of the game.

This could be a solution that the game implements when the animal count gets low. I do not believe they will implement this though, because it would require all new coding. 4J is working on mainly transfering coding. If it were to be implented, i think it would be like the villagers reproducing in their "shacks"

It doesn't bother me because, unlike most of the people on this forum, I have patience. We have all the time in the world to play this game and for the game to be update. If you have to wait a few extra months or weeks, it won't kill you.
Everyone seems to act like this is some sort of life or death situation, or that this one little thing will be the downfall of the game. I just don't get it.
Well, It kinda is about life and death........ see what I did there. I agree Patience is a virtue, people will play either way. People forget it's just a game.

The problem is the space inbetween can ruin peoples world and strip them of animals. This is a basic feature that helps make minecraft what it is.

Normally, man, I like ya and think you're swell. But this is not a small issue. See, its nice that WE, the forum community here, understand this issue might exist and could stop killing. But if animals DO NOT SPAWN more than the initial time the world is generated....this is a great problem for everyone else. See, they do not know about this. 1.8 will come and they will play as they always have. And their worlds will be devoid of animals. As in, that entire save just became dead to them simply because someone lacked the foresight to correct an issue that was obviously present. You absolutely cannot say that this isn't game breaking, because it is for all of the people who DON'T follow the forums. That is to say, virtually everyone who owns the game. We encompass such a small percentile of the actual playerbase that we might as well not even exist, for the purposes of scale.
This is not a whiny complaint being made by doomsayers. This is the caliber of thing that could probably turn a large chunk of the playerbase away. We've brought entirely new players into this game, and its on their backs that the burden of keeping its interest, and therefore its forward momentum in regard to updates and new material, alive. For once, perhaps, its a good ideal to support this particular movement to get some changes brought forward. Or, in the very least, get some changes left for later. They COULD leave the respawn dealy out until it can be properly implemented. They even might be doing this already, but its certainly important enough to ask about, wouldn't you say?
I dont mind if there isnt any breeding. I have wheat, cookies, cake, pork chops if i must eat those insipid things. Theres no need to kvill the animals. Wheat farms plus a mob spawner is sufficient for all health needs.

Gotta kill pigs for chops. Unless wool is suddenly regrowing, then you also won't have what is, effectively, the single most important building material there is. Without a surplus of wool you do not have access to colored walls, floors, extra beds, paintings for decoration...ect. This particular issue goes beyond HEALTH needs by far. Removing wool from the equation basically removes me, in the very least, from even caring to turn the game on. It took nearly 100 wool just to do a small walkway from my dock to my castle. Thats 35+ sheep in the best of circumstances. Wheat takes a bit to grow as well, whereas pigs and cows turn up all day. On survival maps its also killing off the most readily available armor you can find. Early game, you do not have the iron surplus you need to waste it on armor. But you certainly need that armor to go cave diving, especially on this version. Combat on PC was easy. The hit range on the xbox is tight, and puts you a hairs breadth from their hit range on you. Nevermind the fact it takes time to even get the seeds you need, and the water, to get a sizable farm started.
It means that early game, you are boned. You HAVE to kill to eat, and in doing so you remove animals you need later.
I still see no problem with it. Bread is probably one of the easiest obtainable foods. Also, with 1.8.2, we'll get Zombie Feet which are also food.
There are just so many ways around animals not respawning that it won't be any problem for me or anyone who knows what they're doing. Which everyone should know they're doing by now.

I did not mean to post this twice.
