In my game, animals stopped spawning... and no slimes are spawning at bedrock in slime chunks. So, currently this isnt a problem for me. Luckly I've been playing on peaceful for half of the time (ran out of food most) but this is a problem. Anyone else have this happen?
Do you have a lot of tamed wolves? If you have too many, then other animals won't spawn.

Don't play on peaceful if you are trying to spawn slimes and make sure you are a certain distance away from the chunk you made. Check out AR3, click his signature on this page with the slimes and that should help you.
Just to let you know that we are aware of this issue and we will look at it. Some things that may seem fairly simple and constrained can have massive impacts that spread throughout the code so we can only bring in something if it's not going to add too much more complexity. I cannot promise that we will put this in the 1.8.2 update, but it is on our list of future features to investigate bringing forwards.

I really appreciate you replying to this thread. Thank you for informing us that this is being looked into, because we are now not so much in the dark. Hopefully you can find a solution :)Apparently my poll decided to magically reappear

I'm certainly glad to hear that an issue is recognized, at least. I'm sure we all understand that it may not be possible to bring breeding forward, but, as a consolation, can we perhaps get a backup insurance that spawning rules for animals might remain unchanged until it CAN be implemented in full? I know you all do a great deal of work, I certainly get that it may prove impossible to move breeding ahead. I just hope you all will consider leaving their spawning the same as it is now till it does happen.
You know, brining breeding forward is a pretty nice idea! My girlfriend loves to "trap" animals and keep them. Unfortunately they despawn when you are no longer close enough to them. So this might be a pleasant suprise for her. I'm actually looking forward to Jungle Biomes. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY … that is something 4JStudios is going to bring forward. Atleast give us Jungle Tree's :-P
They will not bring jungle trees. As for you girlfriend, you could do this. Tell her you have a surprise. Show her the minecraft breeding. Special time ;). Although this could only happen if 4J adds it. Dear god let this man have his dream :'(
I agree that breeding should be added to the 1.8 update. For the PC it was fine to add breeding in later, but that was because you could just explore your world more. For the Xbox 360 the worlds are only the size of one map. This makes it difficult to not run out of passive mobs, especially if you have explored your whole like a lot of others and I have.
Breeding should be added sooner also because of the Adventure Update adding in the hunger bar.

Or they could make the worlds bigger so we can have more animals.

Retired StaffModerator maybe?
But why would a moderator take it down? It was a way to find out whether or not the community wanted it without going through 12 pages of debate
I fear the consequences of doing it again, because I didn't read the terms for this forum (I assume most don't). I will just not put a poll up
Yep. Still waiting for a reply from someone from 4J Studio...

Does this mean you're back from your vacation?
