*Sorry about the poll confusion. It is fixed now and I will not change it anymore*

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know that we are aware of this issue and we will look at it. Some things that may seem fairly simple and constrained can have massive impacts that spread throughout the code so we can only bring in something if it's not going to add too much more complexity. I cannot promise that we will put this in the 1.8.2 update, but it is on our list of future features to investigate bringing forwards.
New New Information: Another official from 4J studios has mentioned that some content from 1.9 might be moved up to this next update. This is good news for this cause and hopefully we can convince them to add breeding into 1.8. SOURCE: https://twitter.com/...656055326146561
NEW INFORMATION: It has been confirmed that 4J will not put breeding into the next update. This does not mean we should stop tweeting them, but instead make them aware of the initial problem. Animals cannot be allowed to not respawn. Please tweet them about this problem and bring it to their attention. I will be dissapointed if they basically copy and paste the coding without any thinking about the possible problems. Thank you. SOURCE: https://twitter.com/...085486625959936
After posting on a thread about the updates coming to the next update, I have found that animals will not respawn and not be breedable. This is definitely a game breaking problem, because animals and their food would become non-renewable resources. This could kill the game for multiple months until they fix it in the update after this one (or in a quick fix). I am going to stress this. The game can easily become lifeless besides things trying to kill you and there would be no way to get the animals back. Although some of you might not think this is important, it is very. Animals add atmosphere to the game and is a fundamental part of the basics of the game. Many players will become frustrated. So all I request is we all tweet 4J Studios and make sure they add this to the game. Thank you
There are three parts to this that need to be added.
1)Animals must be able to follow wheat and "fall in love" by left clicking
2)Animals must have a baby form
3)Animals must not despawn
Solutions:
1) Not adding animals' not respawning to the game
2)See above for other
3) Have animals respawn after a certain amount of animals are left
Reasons To Tweet:
1) To remind them to add this feature (PC suffered, but xbox doesn't have to)
2) To get confirmation that they are doing this if they already are
NOTE: This only effects passive mobs
EDIT: I have changed the title due to the response we have gotten from 4J Studios. This is now a discussion about breeding vs enchanting and which one you would rather have. Also, changed the poll to represent breeding vs enchanting.
Yeah breeding was brought into the game at 1.9 prerelease 3 IIRC,
I understand this, because I was playing on the pc before 1.8. My point is that we need it pushed up like lighting was, because it could break a world permanately.
Yeah, it sounds like you just want more than is being already provided in this massive update.
It can break any survival world, because animals would not be a liable food supply. This is due to the fact that you would quickly kill all the animals on your world and won't be able to create more. It would get rid of one of the most basic elements of minecraft and that is animals. Oh and that would make almost everything animals drop become non-renewable (except chickens).
I think it's possible to kill every animal. Not having them respawn could make for a broken world with no meat to eat.... no wool, no leather, no cake etc..... With the hunger bar added a lot of bread will be needed.....

We can kill animal in our current version and they wont respawn, friendly mobs have a natural spawn rate though. If i remember they will spawn in well lit areas on open surface (Why you mostly see them during day time and they disappear at night) the breeding just keeps them spawned, if you kill them even with breeding unless you have them pinned up they are gonna die out for a short time or just disappear off into the distance.

Agreed, but first thing I would do if they didn't push this is Pen up tons of animals in my Farm area for update and play on peaceful until update came out

Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? I believe in the update animals do not despawn or respawn. This wouldn't be as big of a problem if the worlds were bigger...

Anyone know if wheat attracts animals in this update? That is needed as well.
In the 1.8 update, animals became persistent. This means that you could capture and keep animals without them disappearing. In addition, the animals are gone for good once they've been killed. Exploring new chunks of land would produce animals for the chunk, but once they're gone, that's it. They're going to be a very limited resource. With the increased importance of food, a lack of pigs will certainly doom us all to hunger..
..or you could make a wheat/melon farm. The point is, the PC version made this mistake. We can learn from that.
Eh, how does this work then? as they are mobs, when you kill a creeper its gone but the next night there are other creppers?
Ok let me make this more clear. In the next update, PASSIVE MOBS will not respawn, but neutral and aggresive mobs will. This means slimes, creepers, zombie pigmen, etc will all respawn. I will add this to my main post as not to confuse

Passive mobs (pigs, cows, sheep, etc.) are affected by this persistence design. Hostile mobs do not change their spawning patterns.
No problem. Are you guys starting to tweet them? The earlier they realize this the better. They might already know, but this community doesn't and we should.
I would be surprised if they made animals no longer respawn, and not breedable. They aren't stupid and they would see the consequences. So please don't bother them on twitter, it would obviously be annoying, remember the emerald block problem?
You'd think that this would be an easily avoidable error, yet it still occurred on the PC. I know we're on the Xbox, but I just thought I'd point that out.

This is exactly on the point. My main concern is the wool, because I could just make wheat even though pigs are awesome

LOL. No one look behind the tree...
They spawn when you create the map, but will not respawn after you kill them. This could leave a map with no animals
ROFL xD that's to good..
Maybe for the pigs it is
