I am not sure if this is a thread yet but it probably is... oh well.
What funny or random things you've seen while playing Minecraft?
I was exploring my map yesterday and in the distance found a pool of lava on the surface, near a forest.... I saw flames by the lava and couldn't figure what it was... until I saw a tree near the lava go up in flames and I realized it was a forest fire! Not too big, only two or three trees, but it was the first time I ever saw a forest fire... so funny.
Also saw a dirt block floating in mid air near a mountain... didn't do it myself... one stationary block... didn't see a creeper crater either, so I think it was actually put there when the seed generated.
Also a random thing... I saw something that looked like it was man-made but wasn't. By a tree, there was a path of sand one block wide, that looked like a sidewalk, going to the tree from a beach.... I have yet to take down the tree, but I might and then mine there... maybe it is an "x marks the spot" hint or something...
An infinte number of monkeys banging on an infinite number of typewriters still only has a finite (though tremendous) probability of producing the complete works of Shakespeare. Thus, you shouldn't be surprised by anything you see in Minecraft because, sooner or later every possibility of terrain combinations has some finite probability of occuring.
This, of course, has very little to do with the fact that you can see some pretty cool stuff in Minecraft!

I recently seen a skeleton riding a spider. My daughter was seriously laughing for an hour! Is this a common occurrence or was it a freak thing? I've only seen once myself.

That's called a spiderjockey - it's considered one of the more dangerous mobs in the game but should only occur less than 1% of the spawns.
I do have a question about spiderjockies. Has anyone ever seen a jockey "dismount" from the spider and them get back on? I thought I saw this happen once, but it was at the edge of the clunk load zone and it might have been another Skeleton crossing my line of sight.
Wow....that awesome! That was one bad-ass mob! Damn skeletons are tough to begin with! Hope to see again!
Just note - it is actually two mobs occupying the same space. That means you can hit the spider or the skeleton separately depending on where you are aiming. Thus, to fully kill it you have to kill both separately or lure it into a mobgrinder that will kill both. This factor is part of what makes it so intimidating. Do you kill the skeleton while getting eaten by the spider, or vice versa?
That happened to me last night. It was the first time ever I saw a spider jockey. I was surrounded by mobs and couldn't get away from the arrows. I finally killed two of the skeletons and had the spider jockey left. I killed the spider and got excited but the skeleton was still alive and i died anyways.
Strangest thing I have seen so far is when a chunk failed to load. Me and my other half play on the same world (2 xbox's but in the same room, hosted on my xbox). First time my mrs found one and we thought it was awesome (if you haven't seen it you basically have a 16x16 section cut out of the map all the way down to bedrock and you can see cross sections of caves and stuff).
We didn't know it was a bug though and marked out where it was to come back and build something cool around it later. I then spent about 2 hours building a minecart system from our build area to where it was only to find out it wasn't there anymore. I wasn't overly happy about that
I saw something like a chunk glitch a while back... I was on a big patch of ice in ocean walking across it and under the ocean I saw an underground lava pool very deep underground... and then I realized it was a bug.... but it showed me where lava was, haha.
last night I was digging out a cave I found to make a storage space out of....I'd break a block, only to have it reappear and have to break it again. Happened about 4 times.

Spider jockeys are extremely rare. There's only a 1% chance that a spider will have a skeleton on its back. For example, I've killed 450+ spiders so far but encountered a spider jockey only once.
As for weird things, I've encountered water that defies gravity...
...and a dungeon with a cow spawner.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.

I saw gravity defying water today, haha.
That cow spawner made me laugh out loud... nice one!
as i working on something, i saw out of the corner of my screen a cow riding a minecart. what was so funny about it is it came rolling back from the other way, staring at me the entire time. it's almost like it was saying "I'VE GOT TO GOOOOOOOOO"
I've had 2 creepers attack a skeleton, I had to stop doing what I was doing just to watch the epic battle, they all died at the end but it was a funny but strange moment.
the ones I can remember are:
1) floating upside-down cow in a field. at least 15 blocks high up.
2) duck "swiming" on lava pool on the surface.
3) Squid trapped in 1 block of water right next to lava pool
guess thats it -
I have seen the gravity defying water, and lava if im not mistaken. Also single blocks of earth in the sky - no creeper interference to get it up there. Lots of wild wonderful things in MInecraft to see. Can't wait for update - im sure even more hilarity will ensue
it was so funny, this one time i saw 2 creepers just walking in circles around a chicken like they were chasing each other and the chicken was in their way.

Roses are red, here's something new.
Violets are violet, not freakĀin' blue.
Funniest thing ive seen is 3 guys building a floating city that didnt know the crouch technique, on peacefull not quite high enough to kill you on the fall, for about 2 hours i watched these guys fall 1 after the other, and have to climb back up, so i told them to crouch

I have! I was fighting it when a creeper exploded in between us! the skeleton ended up off the spider for a second or two only to get back on.
