Crafting won't change. You will be able to get experience in the 1.8.2 update(assuming it follows the PC update), but you won't be able to do anything with it since enchanting wasn't added until later.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
PC crafting on the Xbox would take much, much longer.
Those who are new to Minecraft will have a much easier time getting into the game
It's more convenient for those who know all the recipes already
While it does take a bit of the mystery out of the game, it's definitely the best route 4J could have taken. They've done a wonderful job on interfaces and controls.
They put the formulas in the xbox so people would not have any problems making things. A lot of people don't have a computer they can't go to wiki to learn how to do thing's.

Yes, XP will be in 1.8.2, but it's useless until the 1.2.3 update when Enchanting is added.
