I mean, you can make a new world and continue to work on your other one.
But your previous world wouldn't have all of the new things, meaning if you wanted to keep that world and take advantage of the update, you'd have to rebuild the whole thing on a different world.
As long as I can keep playing on my current main world, I'm fine. I don't care that I won't be able to use all/some/any of the new stuff on that old world, but I just don't want to lose it. I came up with that seed the third day I played MC, and I really love that world. I restarted it after the first patch came out to get clay, and I'm still playing it most of the time. And since this seed won't work anymore (well, it'll work but procude a completely different world) one the next big update comes, I'm going to keep this one.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.
Yeah no thanks... I spent 20+ hrs building my apartment complex and 60+ hrs building my airport, im not doing that again any time soon just to get what I ALREADY have... I wont be making a new world
Yeah, massive builds will be an undertaking to move over. Especially if you don't remember exactly how to build it again making you have to go back and forth from old world to new world just to look at it. Don't shut the idea down so quickly, though. Think about how fast you can get it done in creative. Yes, you still have to do it again, but it won't take nearly as long. I know that it is a bit to suggest effort wise (if you have a lot of buildings), but it is a viable option if 4j allows us to toggle creativity on/off.
Why build the same thing a second time in another world? It just doesn't make sense to me why someone would do that.

Because they want what they have spent all that time along with a mushroom biome for example ?
Also some people have said that the PC version on some updates changed the maps even when they had been explored, which could ruin stuff you have built...
This is why I think that they need to give us a way to link our worlds. I am just talking about individual worlds each player creates. To a max of 4 extra linkable worlds
Minecraft is modeled on a box, so make one world the main and the others you link to them with a portal.(made differently then nether portals) You could create these portals out of obsidian for the most part, but add one extra material like diamond(since it's one of the rare ones)
Your first world could be in the center and the other 4 could be on each side.
