I was introduced to minecraft from the xbox version about a week after it was released. I really thought this game seemed completely stupid and juvenile. I ended up getting pretty hooked for whatever reason. I see people talk about the size of the map, especially compared to the PC version. Of course a bigger map would not hurt at all, but I'm personally satsified with the current size.
I would like to know how some of you start your world. It seems to me I usually build a small base within a mountain and begin farming tons of resources. I usually get 3-4 chests (2 chest = 1) of cobble/stone mix, 2 chests of logs, and all of the other stuff that comes with mining and fighting off mobs. Then I decide what I want to make and clear a flat ground big enough for my project.
Now this is my story of why I don't find the map small enough unless you build a giant skyscraper. There will come to a point where I need to get sugar cane for bookshelves and I dread this part. I ALWAYS get lost very easily. I don't know what it is. I'll lay torches and dirt around more often now, but before I got so lost I had to litterally start over on my same map. I finally found sugar cane and decided to make a mountain house and dig for redstone so I can make a map and get out. When I checked the map I was absolutely no where near where I needed to be.
Anyways, if you ever get bored get extremely lost and try to find you way back it actually ended up being fun (especially if you have nice loot on you) haha.
