i have only been playing two days but i am already having issues. i am not out to make epix castles i want funtionality over sheer size.
So i started building a castle ala helmsdeep style. Meaning i have a castle nestled into a mountain where the backend goes down into a mine. I thought i had secured my castle. My walls are 6 blocks high and 2 blocks wide. I have a iron door, and torches everywhere. there are no dark spots in my castle. I also created a bedroom and a supply room.
The path down to the mine is carved out and also full of torches. I put a wooden door at the entrance and block the entrance with a stack of dirt when i am not gonna go down there or at night.
which brings me to the problem. Mobs keep spawning or getting into my castle somehow. Just tonight i had sealed all my entrances for the night and while i am crafting i start getting hit. i turn around and there is a skeleton archer and a creeper.
if someone can please help me. I can also take pics and post them if needed.
I have that problem every once in a while in larger builds. I seem to avoid them when I put torches directly contacting the ground, but sometimes they just get through regardless. Creepers can spawn in daylight, though...so expect a few in your larger enclosed areas. To give you an idea, a torch makes 14 light, and monsters can spawn in no more than 7 light level. To be honest, I don't know the light fading rate or anything of that sort. Maybe you can place dogs around and leave them on standby to defend you, as well?
