So, I started a new world recently and in my new house I built my Bedroom in is the basement, closed off by a door to get in or out, that is the only way in. The room by itself is about 4x4 and it's lit up like a Christmas tree down their, and every time I fall asleep a zombie spawns in my room and wakes me up >.<!
Has anyone else had this problem? If so how do you fix it. I can't think of anything to do besides light it up really bright.
I guess posting pics would maybe help you guys but I don't really feel like posting them right at this moment.
Yes, you have to move your bed around. You're not supposed to have it so that it's right next to a wall by the outdoors. I recommend, for at least a temporary fix, just making a basement and putting your bed in there until you can find the right spot that won't get you attacked.
Put a quick dirt wall in front of the door before sleeping and move your bed to the middle of the room. Lighting doesn't help either. Until the 1.7 update I had no problems but, Now I had to relocate my bed and block the doors for a good nights sleep. It's like being stalked during the night.. Ya Gotta sleep with both eyes open and maybe you'll see sunrise without a fight..... Maybe. Also, Try an elevated or floating bed. Seems to work when the bed isn't touching the ground. Stay rested!!!!
this was an issue for me early on in the game but after the 1st patch it no longer was. i never slept. i think it also got me to play on peaceful mode too. which was a miracle and curse.

More lighting never hurts. I have a tendency to over spam torches lol. The dirt floor sounds like a possibility, but easy enough to test out.
I had issues with monsters spawning when I first started my world, I had a safe house and I added a new door and it was suddenly unsafe. Not only is my house better lit now, but it also has no dirt floors.
I suppose my suggestion to you is to swap out the dirt and if you already have then try lighting better!

That's actually fixed. I can sleep right up against the wall and it doesn't affect me.
I've noticed I cant sleep in really big rooms. If you're floor is made of dirt it could be worth changing that too. But if you're room is fairly big try making it into a couple of rooms instead and see if that works.
This used to happen on the computer version as well and I had to deal with this problem a lot. I fixed this by placing blocks all around my bed, EXCEPT for a block next to the lower part of the bed. The blocks prevent any monsters from spawning. The one missing block next to the bed is the place where you will be standing when you wake up. However, you have to make the missing block in a specific spot, otherwise when you die, you will get a warning saying that your bed is obstructed or destroyed.
Make it like this. And remember to make the missing block specifically right there! Otherwise you won't respawn at your bed. It doesn't have to be exactly like that. You can make your bed wherever you want, as long as the empty space is where it is in the picture. I know it looks ugly, but at least it works.
I had this issue as well but when the update hit it went away. I have my bed against an exterior wall as well. Definitely try changing out the floor as I'm using wood/cobblestone floors.
Try making your walls two blocks thick. It worked for me.
This is also what solved it for me.
I think it's related to the squid swim glitch for underwater houses.
A squid can swim through a gap such as below (w Water, g Glass, B other solid block)
w g
b w
I personally believe that if you have single block walls where there are "edge-to-edge only" connections (like the one between b and g above) the nightmare spawn code (which is what creates the zombie in your room) can be triggered.
