Actually, that's an inaccurate quote from Plato: "Beauty lies in the eyes in the eyes of the beholder" would be the correct line. Which is kinda the whole point of this thread. Not trying to flame, just suggesting that it kinda contradicts the rest of your comment, and supports the OP.

Right on, once again. If you put something up for public viewing, (post. pic or otherwise), you are fair game for ridicule, as well as approval. I prefer the feedback myself. Helps me gauge things. If something is tacky, people should let them know. Kinda like having a booger in your nose. Sure, it's embarrassing for you to tell them, and for them, but TELL them!

Yes but usually when your informing someone of the booger you usually do it nicely. Or well most people do anyways. Its not like they go " OH GOD you ****ing ugly S.O.B. That booger sooo disgusting ugh i feel like puking."

The only part of this topic I wholeheartedly agree with, is the overuse of the words "epic" and "amazing". Thanks to the internet, those two words have lost all meaning.
While this would be true in a perfect world its not so in the real one. I agree that everybody can do their own thing But when you put your work on the internet you should expect to be judged. If you don't want it judged then don't post pictures.
I haven't duped anything but TNT >.> because i hate digging for hours upon hours to build something massive.. and my creations include wood... Stone, stone half slabs, and glass. I think most of the other looks kinda dumb in my layouts, not to say it can't look awesome else where.
But on the duping matter... really?? people are still going on about it.. go on Youtube and hate on everyone that uses creative mode and flies around to build. the people that only dupe... at least they still have to climb up their creations every time to do the next layer... they aren't hurting anything... you may be straight edged and believe its cheating, but truthfully it'll all get here sooner or later and they'll be able to build that stuff twice as fast and twice as large.
I know people that dupe unbelievably more than most that I've seen on this forum. I don't believe the corrupt world is solely brought on by duping, that or they are extremely lucky by the amounts they dupe.
But, some of the buildings are cool, some of them suck. That has nothing to do with duping if they were terrible at building, they will make it and post it whether they gather it all or not... you can't really expect everyone that goes for size to be extremely creative. i LIKE detail but most of the time I fail to deliver because I've not figured out most of the mechanics like water and such. I wish it was as easy for me to create as it is to think it up but thats just not possible. The people posting these creations that suck now may be amazing in a few months of tinkering with the game.
I understand, like I said I don't dupe building blocks, I'm currently attempting to create a 128 diameter sphere on my map... which requires a 128x128x64 cube removed from the map... so I cheated to get some TNT.. sadly.
I love playing legit, and love building that way even more, but mostly on other's servers or a server I have that I play survival on (which I'm terrible at) and I see your point, I can't build much with the diamond/gold/iron because I get discouraged when I see how it just doesn't fit like they want it to. Because to be a gold block is a gold color block, not "treasure" or amazingly nice hand polished creations.. but to some it is.
but hey whatever man people like what they like and it wouldn't be soo bad if they would post it on the new webpage made for posting pictures of there stuff.
But a friend of mine dupes and he makes me extremely jealous because he knows how build some amazingly nice stuff... and he works from home so he has plenty of time to sit there and create huge amazing worlds by the time i get on..., and I am still blowing blocks away 60 layers down, haha.
duping does not give you skill in building nor should it be used to judge skills in building...the public should be used to judge the skills of others.Have you ever had to build a house in real life? did you have to go mine for the stone? did you have to go chop down trees for the framework? make the drywall? and a hundred other things? or did you go to the store to get your supplies cuz you were to lazy to go out and get them yourself? my house would never have been built at that rate..does it make the building of my house any poorer because i didnt go out and mine the supplies myself? absurd!

It's nothing new. Just some people need to learn between constructive criticism and out right bashing.
