The other day I stumbled across a problem while i was mining where some stone blocks were unbreakable, I ignored it and continued on mining until I fell into a hole, it was just a simple four block deep hole so nothing out of the ordinary, so i tried to mine myself out of it but every block I tried was bugged as I said, I tried to stack blocks but it would not allow me, so now I am stuck on my server with no way out. Has any one had this problem and do they have any idea if it will be fixed by the next update?

If you are at the edge of the world, you can't break those blocks, or place blocks. If not, then I don't know what caused your problem.

But I am not at the edge of the world though, I am in the middle of the map and unable to escape from it

Well you have a few options,

1. quit and come back
2. jump then stack
3. save and come back
