I actually kind of like having the world limited to about the size of a map because then you can inhabit the entire world and have it all on a map without getting lost very easily. I always thought it was intimidating to venture very far away from home in the PC version because the world was just so enormous that I always felt like a would get lost. It might not make much sense to anyone else but it's just my opinion.
The problem is if your world doesn't spawn with something, such as a village, stronghold, cacti, pumpkins, etc. there is no way to get them. You can't just walk until you find them. And once they do actually implement some of the stuff from later updates, like villages(regular, desert), abandoned mineshafts, ravines, other biomes, strongholds, etc. It is either going to make worlds feel really cramped, or cause worlds to miss out on a lot of stuff.
I think, if you're lucky to land a map that has sufficient resources and biomes, that the limited size is a bit of a blessing. For me, it means that I can "finish" a map and feel that sense of peace that I completed the game. It, also, means that I was able to work with what I had in the environment and make something of it. If the world was too large, I would always feel like I had to fill it up with more and more things in order to be done and what should be enjoyable would just feel like work.

I am a Minecraft tourist. I am currently unavailable under the XBoxLIVE ID listed here but can be found under ZombieL0C0. If you see me online playing Minecraft, send a message and I will gladly take a stroll through your world.

I know what you mean. That feeling of "finishing" the world makes you feel so proud.
I've never actually played the 360 edition but recently i've been using the Indev generator in Exalm's NBXlite. Both finite and infinite worlds have their upsides and downsides. But now I can finally say to myself...
Edit: maybe there should be an option to make sure your world includes everything (then again that would take away the excitement of creating one by coincidence) and to avoid it getting cramped the world should be double the size (2048x2048) though I doubt they'll even keep finite worlds in future updates since they didn't in the PC edition I hope they do.
i dont mind a finite size but I would like them to be bigger, as it stands now with random generation there are biomes that dont always appear so imagine when we get even more biomes in the mix.
but as the maps are random generation the thing is more as we already dont always get them all then a map with all of them on the current size is going to be even rarer.
I dont want any new biomes until the world is a bigger place. No I dont wamt infinite worlds I just want a world with every basic block in it. If they cant gauarntee cactus in a world this size imaging everything we would lose with adding more to it.
My favorite thing about the PC version is the map size, and I'd love to see as close to that as possible on xbox, but a simple fix to make everyone happy would be to allow you to choose your map size when you create a new world.
You would basically have the current size available, the biggest size available (assuming it ever increases), and maybe different sizes between the two. This is pretty much how creative mode works on Total Miner, so you can choose to have either a big surface area or a lot of depth.
Currently, I'm happy with the world size, but as others have said, once the game is updated, I think it will have to be increased significantly for me to still be happy with it.
I don't mind a limited world size, but the worlds you currently get really are quite small. They're only about one square kilometer, and that's just far too small for my taste. Aside from a much higher chance of certain biomes and resources not being present on a small world, for me it also has to do with exploring.
I love running around for hours, not because I'm searching for resources, but because I simply enjoy going places I haven't been yet, looking in awe at great landscapes and maybe making screenshots of them, and stuff like that. It's what I've done for many, many years in virtually all games that even only remotely allow you to venture off the beaten track, such as the Tomb Raider games, all GTA games from GTA3 on (I've spent hundreds of hours just walking around in the various cities), Neverwinter Nights 1 + 2 persistent world servers, the Assassin's Creed series, Halo (especially in Halo 3: ODST), L.A. Noire, Gothic 1 + 2, Two Worlds, and countless others. And if there ever was a game that cried out to me to go exploring, it's Minecraft.
Heck, I've created dozens of new worlds merely to explore them. All I did mine in them was a bit of wood to make a boat and a bed (exploring in the dark kinda sucks, but it can be fun sometimes) and then I went exploring. And more often than not I've wished that these great landscapes, caves, islands, etc. I came across were part of my main world. Or at least that my main world was larger so I could find more great stuff there.
That's why I really dislike being confined to a tiny fracture of the world size possible in the PC version. Not that I'm asking that worlds in the Xbox360 game were just as big - I know that there are technical limitations on a console that make this nigh impossible. But four times bigger (i.e. double the length and width of the current world size) would already go a very long way to make me even happier with the game than I already am.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.
My opinion is that the world is sufficient for what it has now. As they add stuff the world should be expanded but for how basic of a version it is now... its fine.

yeah but the thing is when the next update happens, which is when the size could increase, is when we have at least 1 more biome type added , and also creative mode.

Even for upcoming updates and having to generate a new world.

Pros:
- My metropolis I am building will take up my entire map. This gives me confidence.
- Every world is surrounded by a sea, so that makes it a cool city island.
Cons:- I do not have any other building space to use when finished.
- There will be no more natural locations.
In my opinion, the disadvantages deal more damage then without the advantages. I hope 4J Studios finds a way to increase Overworld and Nether areas.yeah but the thing is when the next update happens, which is when the size could increase, is when we have at least 1 more biome type added , and also creative mode.
