I had an idea last night but immediatly dismissed it as I suspect it isnt possible but I have decided I should ask here anyway as there are people much more experienced with redstone.
What I had been looking at was a completly hidden doorway so not even any switches, which would to me at least mean i would want one set so if I placed a redstone torch on a wall in a specific spot then the door would open. the thing is as I would want this to be two sided I would A: Need the door to open when redstone was placed in a specific spot on either side of the doorway. and also as I clearly dont want to be leaving redstone all over, and want the door to close behind me, and this is the bit i am thinking ist doable.
Is there was way to place the restone, have the door open and then have it stay open for a period of time after that redstone torch has then been removed, ie enough time to take the torch and go through the door, before it then closes.
I realise as i know exactly what I mean this description may not be the best so feel free to ask me any more about it also.
I know for sure there is a way to make it so a door opens when a redstone torch is placed in a specific spot. I remember a friend showing me long ago and me thinking it was the coolest damn thing in the world. I'm not very good with redstone, but perhaps you could delay the closing with some sort of fancy repeater work. I'll leave it to the redstone professionals
Depends just how much of a problem a piston door is, if I could get a piston door to do it that would be idea, I dont mind how wide the entrance is, it can literally be a 2 by 1 so the character can fit through.
Using a bud switch, you could use a lot of different objects or actions to control a hidden door. doors, furnaces, hoed soil.redstone ore, and many more as opposed to the standard switches.
I have this setup in my world actually leading to my vault. What i have is a Bud Switch that's hidden in the wall and that leads to a pulse extender and then that leads to my 2x2 Door. On the inside i simply set down a button that is connected to the Pulse Extender.
There is no Obvious looking grass to till, no odd looking blocks stIcking out of the wall. You iust place a redstone torch on a stone block that is flush with the wall. Here is the video of it, but you may only want to use the Bud switch design.
If you want to see it all working my GT is Spartan2529
I say hook up the torch to a flip-flop and a button on the inside of your door connected to the same flip-flop. That way the door will open with the torch then close once you enter and hit the switch.

You, sir, inferred that you were making a joke, in ZERO possible ways. Your failure to communicate properly is what went wrong, as I was trying to be resourceful.
I apologize for your poor social interaction skills, and I surely hope they improve in the foreseeable future.

Ive done a set up like this. Things you need to research are:
ABBA switch
T-Flip Flop
Bud Switch
Hidden Door
You hook the ABBA switch to the hidden door, then the T flip flop to the ABBA switch. Then find out where you want to place your "secret" button. And build your BUD switch. Then hook a button inside somewhere and hook it to you t flip flop.
Make surf you have lots of room and building materials. Dirt works great for red stone wiring.
You know it.
Well, I suppose it's just that I'm correct and I feel the need to ram it into a stranger's face so that I can feel rewarded by winning a petty argument.

Why, thank you. I shall sing praises of your tales back at my homeland. The villagers will be proud.
