I've created a tutorial video showing how to build a SkyBlock level completely from scratch in only 2 Minecraft days! This is a complete SkyBlock challenge, including grass on the SkyBlock!
I am using a specific seed ("Quesadila") that has all the resources within easy reach. This video series show exactly where to gather all the resources, and how to build the SkyBlock platform on a grass-covered floating island. Please check it out!

If you are not familiar with it, SkyBlock is a challenge to survive and thrive on a small floating island made up of
78 dirt blocks (grass covered)
3 sand blocks
1 normal-sized tree
1 chest
The chest contains only:
1 Bucket of Lava
2 Buckets of Water
1 Cactus
1 Sugarcane
1 Brown Mushroom
1 Red Mushroom
1 Bone
1 Bed
Some further rules:
Do not leave the floating island
Do not use the duplication glitch
Play on at least easy difficulty
Share your pics or progress
Have FUN!
This is the list of challenge items, please expand and read as I have re-organized and modified these specifically for the XBox version!!
Building challenges:
1) Build a Cobble Stone generator.
2) Expand the island.
3) Build a house.
4) Make an infinite water source.
5) Make a small lake.
6) Make a platform 24 blocks away from the island for mobs to spawn.
Farm challenges:
7) Make a reed/sugarcane farm.
8) Make a wheat farm.
9) Make a mushroom farm.
10) Make a cactus farm.
11) Make a large grassy area for animals to spawn.
Food challenges:
12) Make 10 loaves of bread.
13) Make 10 bowls of mushroom stew.
14) Cook 10 fish.
15) Cook 10 pork.
16) Make 10 cakes.
Collect or craft all the following wool:
17) 10 White Wool.
18) 10 Light Gray Wool.
19) 10 Gray Wool.
20) 10 Black Wool.
21) 10 Red Wool.
22) 10 Yellow Wool.
23) 10 Orange Wool.
24) 10 Pink Wool.
25) 10 Green Wool.
26) 10 Lime Green Wool.
27) 10 Brown Wool.
Craft all of the following items:
28) A furnace.
29) 10 torches.
30) 10 bookcases.
31) 10 Paintings.
32) A complete suit of leather armor
33) A bow (and collect 64 arrows for amunition)
34) 64 bonemeal
35) 64 stone blocks.
36) 10 stone buttons.
37) 10 stone slabs.
38) 10 signs.
39) 10 ladders.
40) 10 fences.
41) 10 trapdoors.
42) 10 levers.
43) 10 stone pressure plates.
44) 10 wooden pressure plates.
45) 10 cobblestone stairs.
Some of these objectives are only possible while XBox is at Beta 1.7, once 1.8 comes out it will be impossible to spawn animals on a SkyBlock.
The only disadvantage of building the SkyBlock at the location I've recommended is the number of animals and mobs that spawn in the land below you. This makes it difficult to get animals and mobs to spawn in significant numbers on your SkyBlock itself.
There's an alternate location in the SE corner of the map, over the ocean, that can generate a huge amount of animal and mob spawns if done right. Unfortunately, you'll need to either create a grass stairway or use a piston to get grass up to the right height. I'm thinking about making a second tutorial that shows a very easy way to get the redstone needed for the piston, and walks through the process of using it to push the grass up to the right height. I don't know if I'll do a real-time tutorial like I did here, or just a "highlights" video that shows the key steps along the way.By the way, sometimes mushrooms don't always spawn on a map in the same place. If you are having trouble finding them where I show in the video, here are a few alternate coordinates for mushrooms on the "Quesadila" seed:
Good tutorial but honestly I don't want to make my own I'd rather have a Skyblock DLC(hopefully we get them further down the line) where the mobs do spawn on certain skyblocks and you wouldn't have to travel down to collect resources. But like i said it is a very good tutorial and soome Skyblock fans will use it but I myself would rather wait to see if 4J adds anything like this in further updates and or DLC
