I am trying to build two towers with a bridge connecting them together, since only one cannot be entered by ground level. I am using twenty sticky piston, lots of cobblestone, and redstone dust. The bridge is ten long and two wide. The floor at first is hidden in the wall until the switch is pulled, which activates the sticky piston to push the cobblestone and forms the walkway. Here is my problem. I have all the materials, but I can not get the test model to work that way. I am also wanting the walkway to retract when the switch at the other end is flip, but I can not get it to work that way either. Can anyone help me?

pretty sure you cant the walk way to retract (build would be possible but not retraction) as if i am not mistaken a piston would push a piston and the block before it but when retracting a piston wont pull the piston attached to it and that attached block only the piston,
Correct. Retraction is a problem... ain't it always.
I have seen a couple of videos with retracting (utube search mincraft telescopic bridge) but they are not for the novice, use an ungodly amount of pistons, and require side walls for a big long nest of repeaters.
Given that side walls are required, you would be better off just making a bridge using trapdoors, or just making a regular bridge.

So the bridge is hidden? Try making it so the walkway is always there but you need to open and close it to see the walk way.
