Although I really love the game, there are a few things I think could be improved. They aren't about actual gameplay but the GUI.
Have the game remember settings for Online game, Invite only, and Allow friends of friends either on a per-world or global scale. Somehow I find it quite annoying having to change the default settings every time I load a game (i.e. check Invite only, uncheck Allow friends of friends).
Being able to change the interface opacity is great, but that it gets set to 80% for six seconds now when you change the quickselect ruins it a bit. I play with 50% opacity and would like it to stay at 50% all the time. I guess there are enough other people who feel the same way. So it would be very nice if we got two additional settings: Quickselect opacity, and Opacity change duration. The first one allows you to select the opacity for when you change the quickselect, so you can give it the same value as Interface opacity to avoid the opacity from changing, or giving it a higher/lower value that suits you better. The second setting is the amount of seconds (0 - 10) the opacity stays changed; setting it to 0 prevents opacity from changing.
Finally, I would really love if the permanent "X Crafting Y Inventory" message in the lower left corner was removed and the quickselect/health bar was moved to the screen's bottom edge. I'm pretty sure that by now everyone knows that X opens the crafting menu and Y opens the inventory. Then you could either put the "LT Place RT Mine" message in one of the bottom corners, or - IMO better - split them up, i.e. LT messages in left corner, RT messages in right corner.

I agree with all of your points. However, you may be pleased to know that the "X Crafting Y Inventory" message is now removable! It was one of the things that originally annoyed me when the game was first released. In your Options, there is a checkbox next to "Hints". If you deselect the box, the buttons go away and your inventory is moved down =)

Thank you very much! I also didn't know this. However, it's the option In-Game Tooltips which makes that disappear, not Hints. But unfortunately it also removes the LT/RT messages which I quite like because I don't always see the thin black frame around the targeted block.

Another thing I'd love to see - but forgot to mention earlier - is a true pause mode that actually pauses the game. As it is now, pressing Start merely brings up the so-called Pause Menu but doesn't really pause the game. That's very nice for AFK mob grinding, but annoying if you have to leave just for a few minutes while in potentially hostile or otherwise dangerous territory.
What I'm thinking of is an additional item in the Pause Menu, called "Halt/Stop/Pause/Freeze/Whatever Game", that you have to select manually. This means that if the game goes to the Pause Menu because you want to change your skin or adjust any other setting, or because you're AFK grinding and your controller turns itself off, it doesn't actually pause the game; the game behaves like it does now. Only when you select the new item manually, the game truly gets paused.
Furthermore, I think this true pause mode should only be available if there are currently no other people playing on your world except locally, i.e. split-screen, to avoid griefing by stopping other people from playing by pausing the game. And whether or not you checked the "Online game" box shouldn't affect the availablity of the true pause mode. I play online all the time, just usually alone.

Thank you for this, I never knew that!
Pleasure to be of assistance. I know that I was thrilled as well!
My bad. I get the two confused.
