They spawn in specific chunks known as slime chunks to the community below layer 16. Click my sig for more info

Really? I remember the wiki saying 40 below. I remember the chances of finding them increased in an update, but I may be wrong.

The wiki refers to the PC version. We're way behind the update that changed slimes spawning on layers 40 down
