I built a Slime Spawner 16x16 3 blocks high a day before the new update came out. I have many torches on the walls. But there is never any slime. The only thing that ever spawns are zombies and spiders (not sure why no darkness). I did everything right but no slime. Some people say that they used to get tons of slimes every 10 minutes in there spawner. I've been told that the update may have something to do with this, and also that you must be within a 20 block radius at all times? Some solutions are that you should add light to the cave outside it and to make the ceiling higher. I think the problem is that I live on another island across the ocean from the island the spawner is on and this may have something to do with it. I considered turning Minecraft on and stand by the spawner and leave the game sit for a couple of hours. I just what to know if there are any good solutions to this problem or if anybody has any reccomendations or are experiencing the same problem. I'm posting a picture of the Spawner below.

I have an old small Castle like shelter at the top left corner of the small island in the middle of the map.
Climb up the later behind the shelter Do NOT go in the door in front of it over the water
Jump down to the grass below by my bridge.
Enter through both doors and go to your right
Go down the stairs and proceed to the door at the end of the hall
Go down the latter to the Master bedroom
Enter the Door and go to the door to the right
Go in there and climb down to the old mine I made
Go straight untill you see a door witch is my slime spawner
