Don't you hate when you and a couple of friends start an epic world on Minecraft XBL just for it to die out in 5 days because the host can never be reached at the times other want to play? Well this has been my biggest gripe about this game since day... 6, whatever you get it.
What I'm suggesting is for the ability for the original creator of any map able to appoint certain people admins. Making people admins puts the map in the admins world selection as a shared map and can be hosted when ever any single person wants to play on that world.
I don't know if theirs complications to this idea due to consoles being pretty limited compared to PC's but something like this SERIOUSLY needs to hit this game soon. This proposed idea from me is rough but can be changed around to suit the console, perhaps, hopefully. I really hate to let friends down when I am unable to host a map and I feel even worse for my Xbox if I leave it on aaallllll day so they can join whenever, not good for the electricity bills and not good for my Xbox.
- thanks for reading guys and please support and get this idea out there.
I agree, I think the host should be able to choose but set a password on to save it or to lock saving until the host is back so on some degree it stops griefing
They should do something similar to they way BF3 does things. You should have admins (who can host the map) and vips (who can join the map if it is being hosted by a admin). Or microsoft could just charge us to rent servers (that is a bad idea to me though).
If you're playing with friends you trust, you can share an account and save your world on cloud storage. I made a new account for that purpose. Just don't put any credit card info on it. Better yet, get a family account, and use a secondary account as your host. That way, the only way that account can make purchases is with microsoft points.
If this doesn't make sense to you, then you probably shouldn't do it. In fact, most people probably shouldn't do it, but it is a solution.

The only issue with your idea OP is that saves are stored on the harddrive. So if you had 3 "admins" with the save file, lets say admin 1 starts the world, saves it to all three admins. Admin1 goes to bed and Admin2 hosts and plays all night. Now Admin3 gets on and starts the old world (without Admin2's changes) he had saved on his harddrive, has a few people join and build. Now two days later Admin2 hops back on, nothing that admin3 has done for the past two days will be on his save, just as Admin3 will have nothing from Admin2. I know that may be a bit confusing, however it shows why the host migration idea wouldn't work.
Best thing to do is have a xbox dedicated to being the server and leave it on 24/7, have a gold account logged in and hide that character in a hole somewhere. Then all of your friends can hop in and out as they please.

Yeah what me and my group did was find a older xbox online and bought it for $60, added a gold account on there and that extra xbox runs 24/7 (every now and then we will give it a night off to give it a break). I would actually be open to the Rent a Server option like what BF3 does. I know most people are against it since its free to do so on PC... But we are on xbox guys. some things just can't/wont be the same. I would be open to paying for it if that would give everyone access to it and we can make the adjustments and settings to the server like PC does.

Heh - And I used to be the one saying "Really? You're playing NerdCraft??"
that means you have to fork out to actually play with friends online.. i don;t like this method as it would be the same as renting a server which i would rather do tham leave it up to someone to have an Xbox on 24/7 and ruin their bandwidth.
plus you'd have to buy a 2nd box ((£100+)) and then another £40 for gold with that you'd have to send money to someone, A friend you have never met in RL money towards a gold account. it's just too much hassle for something they could simply fix.
I didn't say it was a good idea, just said it was the best available right now. Also some of my good friends I play with online are friends IRL If servers are introduced, which 4J had said they will look into it, they would most likely cost money to rent. I would rather spend the money for an extra xbox that I can use if my regular one breaks than pay to rent a server that when the lease is up on the server I have nothing to show for it.

I didn't think of that part. Very good point. I hope they think about this issue IF they decide to do rented servers. For now we will keep playing on our extra xbox!

I really wouldn't go the route of purchasing a second XBL gold account and an xbox, and on top of that it really weirds me out having the xbox on 24/7 in my basement or something. Though, it is a solution, just isn't a probable one that sits right with me. I'd rather just stick it out and take my chances that it'll be in the adventure update. (Fingers crossed)
I just really hate going on YT and watching TeamAVO or who ever and how much fun they have doing stuff on Minecraft in and out of servers any time of day in which MCXBL player cannot. (Not griefing). But I do understand their are some challenging technical problems and I do understand why it isn't here yet. Just dedicated servers would be fantastic..
I heard its coming on 1.8 o.o or maybe 1.2 even if ur off ur server can be accesed just like pc... i heard it from this guy from this girls world o.o
Probably shouldn't believe some random guy telling you things.
If something like an official map sharing feature hasn't been shared here on the forum, then nobody knows anything and the guy was just talking out his ass.

Oh absolutely, and I am all for map sharing, believe me, I am almost always the last one on at night (darn insomnia). I have contemplated buying the second xbox to run a server like I suggested, but like you, I'm not thrilled leaving it on while I'm not at home, which if I turned it off when I left, would defeat the purpose of having one.

But it this has happened more than once >>
Just choose somebody who's online most of the time to host.
The G.O.A.T

That's not that bad of an idea.

That is not what I suggested at all.

@Mustache_Guy - Feeling a little disturbed today?
