I can understand being nervous about letting people around anything that can be burnt or broken which is pretty much all of the minecraft world. Some one messing with a red sone creation is my biggest fear especially since the initial spawn is by a prototype clock which took me several days to make.
I have a real life friend who plays minecraft with me all the time. He helps me build, I help him build. we trade each other items. On the other hand my other friend can't trust me at all becuase of my fascination with tnt, lava, and flint and steel. I know your pain though would love to help but I don't fit the age minimum.
Great thread, I had my world open for a short time and was was griefed by a couple kids.... This post helps, lets me know there are intelligent people still on xbox live. For a few days i really had my doubts. Thanks guys for renewing my faith!
I'd help out.. even though this is my first post, I'm a respectful player.
Although I know what you mean.. I hesitate to get into much 'friend' activity... I'm a somewhat introverted (with people I don't know) and then if a personality type or maturity level isn't what you expected or downright annoying then its... awkward...
also I'm 39.. most xbox players that I meet online are like 17...not that age matters but maturity does.. not sure about the age/maturity demographic on MC though.. never played with anyone online...not entirely sure how that would even work..
Ive started to let complete strangers in my world. I spend a few hours on autosave off to see what they do and how they play, If they havent messed anything up I saave the game before they leave, if they are completely useless, I exit without saving. Nothing destory, just hours of play time. Saves on rebuilding. I usually get them to build something to see what style they play in and if it suits me, if not the exit wipes off the error and I move on.
Please add me.
Im begging to find someone whos fun to play minecraft
My friends don't like building and it really pisses me off.
Im 18 and I have a mic.
GT: xProBlade
Im usually on most of the time.
PLEASE SAVE ME FROM MY BOREDOM :')
I, as a 30 year old MC'r, can see where you guys are coming from.
I have played online with a few of my real-world friends, but mostly just checked out their builds and showed them a few of mine. I see no point in destroying anything somebody else worked for, but I'm also of the "kids these days are awful" mindset most of my Generation X peers share.
I am not even seeking an invite, but I would like to see some pics/vids of the Batcave when it's finished.
heh about the only thing I would be is annoying, because I'd be asking all kinds of questions, about the redstone contraptions. I had one person pop into one of my worlds.
He/she left within a couple minutes, got a message later that said "man your world sucks" I had just started it and had just started digging a mine.
that kinda put me off on multiplayer completely.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
This topic is quite interesting. I'm always paranoid about running into strange people especially when playing Minecraft.
I usually play with just a few of my close friends. I did meet new people and I managed to have a lot more fun when playing with other players.
I joined these forums [Today] to try and meet more people, but I'm still wary so I won't add anyone I don't know or am not expecting.
[The find players section is better for this and I plan to go there next but this discussion had caught my interest]
I'd say I'm an okay Minecraft player, I love building, mining and exploring, the usual. Most of my time is spent helping my friends with their worlds. I only have two worlds of my own.
If you need help with your world I really don't mind giving you a hand, feel free to add me. I'm still filling out my profile in another tab, but it's possible I'll be done by the time you see this so you can go there to get some info about me.
I do have a mic.
As for Greifers, I haven't ran into one yet but have heard of them and what they do. Frightening.. because of this I leave Auto-save off at all times.
I guess I got lucky. My minecraft "partner-in-crime" is someone I've been gaming with for almost a decade now.
We've had other people join in to play on occasion, but even people on our FRIEND'S list turn out to be total d-bags and eventually go on some sort of TNT duping then destroying spree.
You're right though, some(most) people can't be trusted to either not destroy something or mess with redstone timings. It is sad, but true. Which is why I either play on Invite Only or I'll let people join in and just not save. I'd really love to trust people more often, but as they say, once bitten, twice shy.

Funny thing is i thought i could trust people that were already on my friends list to...till i came out of my mine and seen my tower slowly disappear And TNT flying everywhere.... For the auto-save thing...I Hate It!! Never will use it,lol

I both love and hate the Auto-save feature, haha. The only time I use it is when I know there's going to be nobody else joining in on the game. If we invite someone in or have it off of invite-only, I will immediately turn off the auto-save, as a safety precaution, of course.
I'll tell you what, back in the day....lol But really, why are these forum going to hell?
People wanna join others just to destroy there hard work, talk mad **** on the forums...It's ridicules!
Getting to the point where I'm almost afraid to let people in my world, even though i really could use the help on my epic Man-cave
Found a few people i can stand(they don't play much though) but all the rest ...forget about it.
Bad thing is i think these are the best forums around for Xbox version. No smiley face today!
I'm almost positive that as soon as i start trying to find few people, It will most likely be someone i don't want..For ex. i say 18+, next thing i know there is a 12yo in my game....wtf, right.
Not to mention the level of stupidity that is around...my god!
Now look at the pic below....That's what would worry me, someone f'ing with the timers or redstone. That just a small area...My bat-cave/Man-cave will be a redstone dream/nightmare,lol
Mostly testing.
BTW That's just a small area of my stuff, and I'm the only ONE that has worked on this map. I played so much lately that i here the music even after a turn it off,
Never duped never wanna! - It makes builds so much better IMO
This must be you after finishing that epic place.
OT: It disappoints me that the griefing trend has risen in the Xbox version.

I currently don't have a gameplan for my world but it seems to be coming together quite nicely. If anyone is interested in helping me mine and/or build please add me on Xbox live. I could also use a lot of help with the redstone contraptions. I've fiddled with them but i'm pretty clueless. I've also never had the pleasure of playing online with anyone besides my girlfriend and I shouldn't need to tell you what a nightmare that was. Trying to teach a female first person controls isn't the easiest thing in the world to do.
I, too, am paranoid about letting unknowns (and a lot of knowns) onto my maps. I'm having to flush a lot of work down the drain because of jackasses like this.
I have a great map (or had), the seed is 06282012... Some awesome canyons, quite a bit of clay, and a nice, large, flat desert where I started a build project: a 1:1 scale replica of Warwick Castle. I have a 4-chunk Slime farm (lucked out with them all together like that), 3 mines to bedrock, one of which is huge... 3 major & 1 minor bases, a mob grinder, etc., etc., all to support this build project. So I started laying down the foundation a couple of nights ago, setting down the outline of the major features for about half of it in cobble (that would eventually be covered by dirt). The walls were to be 4m thick, with smooth stone on the outside, then obsidian about 3m high (as protection from creepers/griefers), then sand (was to support a redstone line to trigger a griefer trap if anyone cut through the obsidian), then smooth stone on the inside. I decided that the only way I was going to get the roughly 500 linear meters of obsidian 3m high was to go into the nether for it (for the lava, then cast it in place), so I built a portal at the build site.
But when I came back, I ended up at the original spawn. Then I remembered those damn germans who piggybacked in (friend of a friend of a friend) about 3 or 4 days after the map got started. They were only on for about 5 minutes before I made it back to spawn to see who they were/what they were doing... and they were ripping the hell out of my first base. I think I got there right before they took the doors off the hinges... they hadn't just raided the chests, they took the damn chests themselves. I killed one & the other bailed; I blocked them before they could try to get back in... but the real damage was already done (unbeknownst to me at the time).
So now here I am in a secret room they had made, with the nether portal they made from duped obsidian. Great. Now I not only have to worry about that damn stupid chickenshit dupe glitch trashing my map down the road, but the nether-side portal is now permanently linked to this location. In order to get the construction site portal to work as I want it to, I'd have to go into the nether, pace out one third the distance, set up a second portal in the nether, and pray I get it right. Griefers suck; duper griefers truly **** me off at the cellular level.
Too much of a headache, despite all the work I've put into it, so I'm just starting over. By myself this time; and if I ever let anyone else in, I won't be doing any saving or project work while they're there. It's just too risky, and it's awful because it ruins a big part of the game for me... but until they fix the bug, I can't trust hardly anyone.
