Heya all, I am wondering if anyone has 'numbers' for me.
I took a look at Luminescence in the game but one thing i am not particularly clear is is for example the following situation.
I have a really large room and I am looking at lighting it from the floor using glowstone inset with the rest of the flooring.
Now from luminosity numbers Glowstone is relative luminosity 15 and I dont particularly want to get to a light level at all below 10 so I would if I was putting them on the floor place glowstones with 10 spaces between each one as luminosity diminishes 1 per square.
However what if they are inset in to the floor ? The glowstones light emitting surface is now solely facing upwards, what sort of light levels am I getting along the floor now ?
Also what if this floor were glass instead of a solid material? As now the light surfaces are now visible but there is a lot of glass next to them still.
The new lighting made glowstone darker, 15 would be about a level 8,

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
In order to light a room perfectly, using the least amount of glowstone, one should place them with 14 blocks in between each block. Then, from the first block count up 7 blocks and over eight blocks and repeat until the room is filled with light.

thanks Slakathor, does this work if they are within the floor though, ie inset, or do they have to be actually on the floor?

Curse PremiumHuh ? and if you mean they have toned them down to an 8 then thats certainly untrue or mushrooms would spread on top of them let alone close to them.

This thread bores me.

It shouldn't matter since the top of the glowstone block is a light source as well as the sides.
This thread bores me.
thank you very much
