So I was looking on 4J's twitter page today and some one asked if 4J would ever increase map size and their response was"We do intend to look at it longer term". To me that's a good sign that more than likely we will have larger maps somewhere down the line. Again they were asked this a few months back and they said they'd see what they could do. If you guys have read their twitter responses to questions asked by fans you'd see that they're pretty honest answers and tell people yes or no on what they can do. So far 4J hasn't said that they can't enlarge map size and that does give me hope that eventually we'll be able to explore much larger worlds. I know some people disagree w/the maps being too small and that's fine but myself I love to explore and would be thrilled to see larger maps. Also there is a link to 4J's twitter feed from rtjamerson who has been updating 4J's responses so check it out if you don't believe me
I know it's just an opinion, but I really don't think the maps are very big at all. My friends have joined and built houses on my world, and even though we've tried to build our houses as far away from each other as possible, we're still only a short walking distance from each other at all times. If the mountains weren't there, some of us would even be able to see each other's houses.
I pretty much have my entire world memorized. If I want to go somewhere, I don't even need a map, and I can get there within a minute. It's pretty disappointing, really =\ I want to build more cities, but with a world this small, it would just feel cluttered.

All we can do is cross our fingers that it happens but I do have a good feeling about getting larger maps and I know alot more people have the same opinion as us

I know, for a fact, that there is a way to increase the sizes of even our current worlds. The only variable is how the developers choose to do it. Sure, there's the obvious route of straining the console more to load up a bigger world, but there are so many other routes they could take! They could implement ether portals (opposite of nether) that would take you and other players to attached worlds, or you could take a boat to the edge of the ocean, and it'd ask you if you wanted to venture to a new land. There are so many possibilities.
Of course, the more feasible routes might be the most complex to pull off, and they might not be able to have such clean presentations and executions, so that might stop 4J from even considering them. But I'm sure that no matter how difficult or messed up the method for increasing world size is, when they finally implement it, it will make everyone happy.

I've heard suggestions like that before and I've also heard from a few video game designers that it could be done and making one world equal to 4map sizes and you're right, everyone would be happy. I mean who wouldn't mind exploring longer and finding new ****? It's one thing to play the same map for hours on end and find every nook and cranny it has to offer(not that thats not fun) but what about playing the same map if it was doubled or tripled?? How much more fun would that be? Also w/the future updates, to me w/the strongholds, ravines, and abandoned mineshafts the world would feel much more cramped and I think 4J has already realized that.
I am pretty sure everyone would greatly enjoy the world size being increased. However, most people, including I, believe that 4J Studios has probably attempted doing so, and this present limit was as high as possible to do in their given time span. Hopefully the company will eventually find a way to multiply it.
Trust me in that my perspective is not affected by any bias. If my plans are done correctly for my main "city server," it will cover 75% of the entire map. I wish I could make some multiple-purpose locations outside to be connected to the metropolis by railroad, but that is not possible (yet).
Definitely hoping for larger world sizes but also hoping for deeper world sizes too...as in the anvil update where it goes from 128 to 256 depth.
Just an FYI, the ground will never get deeper. Sea level will remain at 64 to 66 even after the Anvil switch. All that did was make the world load better and move the max height for building from 128 to 256. It did not make the world deeper.

I know what you mean especially w/deeper oceans

<3 Thanks for the shout out.
No doubt my friend. You did all the work to bring the Twitter feed directly to this forum. You deserve a shout out and more
