That's a hell of a question to ask there, Barbara. Why DOES time happen? Is this an introspective search for the answers to the mysterious workings of an omnipotent God? Or is there a key to the workings behind all time and space that we as humans could hope to understand through scientific methods?
I dunno man, but it keeps me up at night.
Time happens because the Earth spins everyday. The Earth orbits around the sun, while rotating. This causes one half of the earth to be night and the other to be day. This is how time happens.Oh and Barbara, how's your spine? (No body will get this reference)

that's a simple explanation to why time on Earth as measured by clocks happens, but what of time as a dimension intertwined with space?

That explains the light/dark cycle that we refer to as day and night, but does not explain time itself
Time occurs because without it, the world would simply be a still 3d model visibile for only the smallest divisble moment possible, the length of which is not definable as the smallest possible moment of existance is infinitely small.

Time happens because of a string of code.
Barbara Gordon?
