160 Microsoft Points is not bad for 40 skins at all. Of course, eventually they will release the other Skin Packs. And then come the Texture Packs, which will most likely cost money. And then the mods will come, which will most likely be a "some free, some paid" kind of thing. Once all that builds up, we might be dishing out more than we expected to, and that may go unnoticed. So do you think it's worth it for what we're getting? My guess is that the texture packs will come as the skin packs, like 10 for a dollar or something along those lines.
Minecraft will be ongoing for a long time on Xbox, and I'm sure after the success of the original 3 skin packs, they will release either more skins, or a custom skin creator. The same goes for texture packs and mods. But basically what I'm asking is if you think it will be worth all the money we dish out.

I can't speak to whether or not any future DLC will be worth it because we don't know what they will be releasing, what the quality will be, and what the price will be. Given that we just received 40 skins for 2 dollars, it seems as though they are interested in fairly pricing the content. Only time will tell.

I think all of this DLC should be free, as we can get any texture pack, mod or skin completely free of charge on the PC version, so why should we pay for the same stuff on the console version? I understand that it's the developers creating them and not the community, but if that's such a problem, let us create our own! To be honest, I have no problem paying for high quality texture packs. Mods should be free though. And then they should let us create our own skins. Add a "Report Skin" for the obvious offensive skins that people are going to make, and if they get caught making offensive skins, they get banned from making skins for a period of time. I know, I should help create this game.
It will always be like that as long as consoles are a closed platform. Which means any texture pack or mod we want has to be made by 4J. I assume we don't have a skin editor because they can get more money selling packs.

With creative mode, I'd love it it we could create custom maps and share them with the community, a la Trials or Halo's forge mode.
As far as skins go though, custom skins are going to require that the developers release ones they make in packs and get licenses for any copyrighted character in popular demand for use as a skin, or require that custom skins be submitted through a screening process, both to ensure that copyright infringement doesn't happen. Don't want Minecraft to get sued off XBLA, now. And either of thse options are going to make DLC pay-for.
i know that money can be hard to get but i honestly think if they keep this price range ongoing they'll make more money this way and to be honest not a lot of people understand how difficult it is to convert the PC coding to Xbox codings...
All mojang ask is "be patient and wait" also it does state on the xbox loading screen that "mojang have more awards than staff" if that is true then time is what they need and please give them full support and not greif. the more grief they get the more time it'll take.
I think they will most probably do a voting system from the community for the top 10 - 20 texture packs and then conclude a top 10 for sale or free release.
As said before the coding is different on the PC compared to xbox and the servers on xbox may not be able to handle such an increase of graphis and working machines (redstone/Pistons).
I think the update roster is 1 Major update a month + a few bug updates every so often. But i cant tell. so either you believe me or dont.
hope they bring in the texture pack Syndicate uses on The Minecraft Project and/or the texture pack on Tekkit with duncan (Yogscastlalna or LividCoffee)!
Mojang isn't working on this game. And the 1.8.2 update is going to take longer than a month.
He said an update a month, which is what we're getting. We had an update in June fixing bugs from 1.6.2, and in July we updated to 1.7.3. Next month we'll have various bug fixes, and the month after we'll have 1.8.2.
Keep in mind that is an estimate, though. Just because they have had that pattern in the past and estimate that it will be similar in the future does not guarantee it. Always good (albeit sometimes dangerous) to be optimistic, though!

oh look again people saying we should get stuff for free because the PC has it, the PC stuff is fan made though, this isnt its a business what do people expect ?
As long as future 'Skin Packs', 'Texture Packs', and 'Mods' manage to stay relatively affordable (such as 'Skin Pack 1'), I really have no issue with them charging for extra DLC as it was to be expected.
Personally, I will only buy the mods and texture packs that appeal to me, so odds are I won't be purchasing everything that gets released.
I still don't understand this "free" thing or this thread worrying about how much all this "extra" stuff is gonna cost.
What difference does it make, really?
If you want it, you'll buy it.
If it's not worth the cost to you, you won't.
Simple.
If the PC stuff wasn't free, and if you wanted it bad enough, you'd buy it anyway, right?
So it doesn't matter which platform it is, the real questions are how much is a skin pack worth to you? A mod? A texture pack?
If they're charging less than what you'd pay, it's a bargain and you'll buy it.
If it's higher, you won't. (And gripe here about it).
Simple.
I'll stand by this estimate. I expect 1.8.2 two months from now, and 1.2.3 in 4!
you need to keep in mind the sizes of the updates, 1.8.2 is way bigger than 1.7.3... but of course they started working on it along side the 1.7.3 update so 2-3 months isn't that far off and if they start on the 1.2 update after the 1.8 then i'd assume we'll have to wait at least 2 months after that update.
also, you can't put purely bug fixing updates into the equation since those are most likely being worked on by a different 4J team than the ones working on the updates.
Edit: i think they said they'll release like 5 skin packs so skins alone will add up to $10 if they keep to the 160ms price. Whether or not they'll make more than 5 is unknown, maybe they'll release a skin editor after the 5 have been out for a while.... lets just hope c:

3 months minimum for the 1.8 update, my guess. they've stated multiple times that 1.8 will be the hardest and most likely longest update to push out since they may as well be rebuilding the game because of how much is added AND changed. the 1.7 update didn't really change all that much so much as add things, 1.8 has ludicrous amounts of changes as well as additions.
I could be wrong, and it's entirely possible that they'll have it ready in 2 months, but prepare to be disappointed.
Im sure if 4j had a choice they wouldn't charge money for it but thats M$ call, boy do they love their money.
Nah. Im sure they'd charge. After all every company needs money in their pockets. After all, unpaid employees does not make for a good company.
As for the packs, we'll just have to judge each by it's own merits. If I feel a skin pack or texture pack isn't worth 2 bucks then I wont buy it lol. Needless to say we pretty much knew every skin before it came out, so really, there's no one who should complain when they buy it since they dont have to buy it to play it.

i agree with this^^^^^

Haha, well that's true. But by the looks of it so far is what I'm asking
It's also kind of weird that we have to pay for all of this while the PC gamers get it for free. O_o
