So that is my quarry, I'm not sure of the exact dimensions but it should be around 15 blocks x 15blocks. Would it be possible to cover the entire top with pistons and cobblestone so that when a lever is pulled the cobblestone opens up to this? I would be willing to pay someone to do that. Cheers!
Im not entirely shure what your asking, but it is MC so anything is posible.
I want to cover the top in cobblestone like a lid, then have pistons with the pull of a lever or push of a button remove all the cobble revealing this big pit.
yes i have an idea do you have sticky pistons redstone dust etc?
Yes, if someone does want to attempt it I would make a bunch of chests filled with cobble, redstone, redstone torches, repeaters, redstone dust, a couple iron picks and shovels and loads of pistons and sticky pisons
This hole is simply to big for what you are asking. When doing a floor like this there are limitations to how big it can be. I am sure some noob is gonna try and contradict me, but it is simply impossible with that size.
You can however do something like this, but sideways.
If you use something like this remember pistons can only push 12 blocks.

I agree with rob, the circuitry (pardon spelling) would be extremely huge, hell to do a 3x6 pull apart piston extender you have a ton of redstone circuits involved, that size everything would most likely run together and well, not work.

Yes like that only sideways, I could narrow it down to 12 x 12
ok bummer; just had a great thought of how cool that would look.
So I know it would take a lot of time to reset but could I set up sand so it collapses to reveal the hole?
I have seen people create floating sand sculptures that when punched the tower collapses. I am not 100% sure how to reproduce floating sand or if it would even be feasible on 360, but if you do figure it out then your next step is finding a way to reload it. If you feel so inclined.

Ok because I was watching ethoslab and he had some traps that incorporated that and from the side you place a torch and then sand the 3 torches on that sand then more sand and repeat until it gets as big as you want it. Looks like I'll be busy tomorrow

Pulling it apart so this hole appears

Side note: before you get started I would like you to skip to 3:10 on the video I linked.
